There are many assumptions that "charts" don't tell you.

Ill list some myths that I heard others say for certain varieties of 109s:

- Some people claim the g6as will run longer under overheat without damage than the K4.

- Up to 2000mt the topspeed of the G6/AS is very close to the topspeed of the K4 and the climbrate is quite similar too. The G6 AS handles better, is less stiff and the surfaces seem to work a little better too, elevators for first. This is why some do chose the G6 AS rather than a K4.

AS denotes the usage of the DB605AS engine for high alt work.

Ooh, very interesting comments.

I wonder what tactic that refers to? BnZ? (It does sort of look like a pendulum, if you use your hand as the aircraft)

Here's a good take on E fighting 101 from over at Sim HQ... http://www.simhq.com/_air10/air_302a.html
or super simply put heres the start of the pendulum swing or the boom part....

Heres the middle of the swing when it starts back up or the zoom part... http://www.combataircraft.com/tactics/low_speed_yoyo.aspx

In game terms it also means MW-50 boost when you hit the WEP key giving 250 more HP than the other G6's.

The G6AS outperforms any other G series 109 available in the game.

It is 50 kmh faster at sea level than the G6(late) and at some altitudes it is actually faster than the K.

It is not faster than the G10 which is the fastest of the 109G series.

From Bf109 in action Squadron Signal publications

"In an attempt to increase the speed of the 109G, THe DB 605D engine was developed. Similar to the DB 605AS, The DB 605D's supercharger was increased in size, and again, the compression ratio was increased as well as displacement. The MW-50 was retained, and as a result, the G10 was the fastest of the 109 G series"

I was going on Hardballs which shows the G6AS 11 kmh faster than the G10 at sea level (581 kmh G6as versus 570kmh G10) but it also shows the G6as 6 kmh slower than the G10 at 7500m.

But yes point taking.

In terms of just performance the G2 holds the cards over the G6AS sans level speed and a small part of the climb envelope.

Yes this is exactly what he means.

The "pendulum tactics" is the same as "B&Z". It was called that way because it was invented almost independently. Also, in Finnish, "heiluri" fits better to it than "syöksy & kiipeä". http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

There is BnZ where you make your shot and leave, ala Hartmann who advocated not sticking around.

Pendulum tactics is more properly part of energy fighting. It's what lets faster, less well
turning planes pilot's dominate the less fast and especially stall turn style pilots.
Example is the FW-190s vs Spit Vs. Britain had to make a faster Spit because of the FW.
The faster you go, the higher you can zoom.

It also means that you're more likely to be facing a '44 planeset and the G6A/S is more on a par with '44 planes than the G6 is with '43 planes.

No charts to back this up!
