Sometimes artificial intelligence just equals real stupidity, but can result in some entertaining viewing if you have a chance to look at what your AI buddies are up to.

Here's a mix of IL2 and Lock On mishaps.

That Tupolev AI guy did a great job of getting his damaged bomber back to base, but perhaps he needs his eyes checked http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Who needs the AI? I can do a much better job of driving into things on the ground...

I've had more than my share in ground collisions. HE-111 comes to mind. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

Then we've replicated human behavior almost perfectly!

That's funny. The Tupolev falls apart but the truck is apparently unaffected?

We've got video-cards and sound-cards and network cards - maybe one day we'll get AI-cards, sub-processors devoted to real-time competitive AI?

No point.

Graphics cards exist just because there are specific operations they can be geared towards, to improve performance.

Between CPU and GPU, there's not really any operations I can think of for an AI system to realistically use that aren't available.

Though graphics card manufacturers need to make it easier for programmers to offload work onto their cards...

Hi,

I dont often slate the AI, as I only fly offline these days its all I have to fly against, and so should be grateful for it.

However, last night I was flyin in my A-20G/New Guinea campaign, as Number 2 in a four ship flight. It was a successful strike on some shipping right next to an enemy airbase. We'd already surpressed the flak in the area, so I waited at a distance to strafe some enemy fighters on landing while the rest of the flight made their way home. This I proceeded to do and all went well.

So then I turn for home and manage to catch up with my flight who appear to be about 1km lower than they ought to be.
Then I spot the reason - The flight leader as taken a whack in both engines, which are slowly losing power and he's nosing over into the jungle.

It was a vast patch of jungle, and there were no roads to make a crash landing on.

So he goes in.

Then I observe the number 3 and 4 ships following him in! So I try to give a radio instruction such as 'Rejoin', 'Return to Base' only to lern that I cant communicate with them! I thought I would be able to do that as Number 2 after the Number 1 went in.

So I try 'Anybody Help Me?' to no avail. Then I watch two perfectly good aircraft hit the deck:

And here's an old one I stuck in a thread somewhere before. 7 AI Spits of varying skill levels down a Mistel which detonates at 200m altitude, taking All 7 Spits with it.

Regards.
