I havn't posted much on this forum but I just wanted to say how much fun I've been having with this sim, and its only going to get better. The experience of flying on a mission with old WWII Music playing in the background is exhilerating. Thanks, Oleg for a wonderful simulation. I had my 10 year old son with me and was teaching him some of the basics, the feeling is incredible. Your hard work does not go noticed and is greatly appreciated, Thanks A Million !

S!
It just keeps getting better. Here's a few things I noticed whilst giving the sim a workout today.--------Apart from the obvious new planes, clouds, and torque.

The locking tailwheel now works.
The brakes aren't as harsh.
The sound of the wind when you open your canopy.
The over soft suspension is cured.
AND the campaign seems much more varied now, only have one on the go, but five missions and all completely different. Fantastic.

Maybe you noticed other additions.

Is it just me or is there an increased sensation of speed also?

I swear the game feels faster. At least from the flying over terrain point of view.

This sim is a great toy and a great learning tool. Hats off to Oleg indeed! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Gferos, you don't post much but what you say will no doubt be encouraging to Oleg and Team. I wonder how many "silent majority" types are out there who appreciate this sim but are a little timid speak out in this forum. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I find the leaked beta patch a large improvement in nearly all areas.

My complaints are mostly about ground handling. What's up with the sudden elevator activation activation at a certain speed, resulting in an instant somersault if you're holding down the stick? It should be gradual, as air flows faster and faster over the elevator. Right now it's like an on and off switch. And groundloops stil don't happen; unnatural and extreme rudder contortions are still possible in the game, when in real life you'd be eating dirt.

One of the things I like best are the new crash physics. No more weird bouncing and sliding three hundred feet. It's much more convincing.

I'm very happy with the new stall compared to the old, but it still needs a lot of work. It's still not possible to have a realistic nose drop slow stall like in a Cessna and in the United States Army Air Force training videos, although the insta-spin has been replaced with a more realistic controlled descent type thing.

I like the sideslipping, whether or not it is exaggerated. It's almost certainly closer to the real thing now than before.

Trim is the best we've had so far, although it's once more possible to go from one end of the trim wheel to the other in a second. But it's worth it, because trim is actually useful for trimming your airplane now.

Torque is a bit funny, with bugs and quirks here and there. And the P-38 doesn't have the single engine torque roll that killed pilots when an engine failed, and was used in combat by skilled pilots to increase roll rate. And I can't for the life of me spin the Me-109 G-2 without using rudder or aileron.

Overall, I'm more impressed with this version than I have been with all of the other ones combined. Provided that the flight model continues to be improved before Battle of Britain, I will be buying it.

Well Old_Canuck I would imagine there are quite a few of us who haven't posted very much due to the atmosphere of these forums.

If you enjoy the sim and think it is the best one created in ages, your labeled a "fanboy", butt kisser and a hundred other dumba$$ remarks. It generally isn't worth the time and effort.

I spend 6-8 hours a night on this sim, i love it and will continue to support anything they decide to add to it. If that makes me a "Fanboy" then I am. Being Canadian I don't give a bleep as to what anyone thinks.

Ha yes good stuff.

nice to know that there are people who take the sim for what it offers.

Instead of focussing on what some myopically consider it should have, and then proceeding to ram it down anyones throat with the loud mouthed opiniated boorishness that has become the internet-forum-at-large general trademark.

i think this post demonstrates a good, healthy balance that puts the enjoyment of PF in a proper perspective.

bravo.

Exactly, Old_Canuck. Often we forum oldies try to keep the faith alive with a more level-headed view of the good and bad. We know that it`s easy to come and scream for something that`s perceived wrong. We also know it`s the complainer`s who are far less embarrassed to make a scene, so they tend to be noticed more by their very loud and repetitive nature.

Unfortunately, we are pretty well known so don`t have as much effect any more.

This is why it`s a breath of fresh air when a new (or silent) forum reader pops up and says `Well done` honestly. Chances are that these type of people are FAR more numerous than complainers.

I say to you silent guys, if you`re really pleased with Oleg`s sim, just pop up and say a few words - and don`t worry about whiners hijacking the thread. Your point is made that`s all that matters.

Yes, Oleg will appreciate this much more.

S! All,

I'm new to this forum but have flown already the original Il-2. I don't fly a lot and mostly offline, but I enjoy every mission from takeoff to crash. This sim has always been excellent and with every patch / addon it's becoming even better. I don't play any other game than FB/AEP/PF.

I'm grateful for every patch offered for free and I'm ready to buy any add-on that will be released.

Hats off to Oleg & Company.

I for one don't say much but I think 4.0 is a major improvement and it does give a greater feel of speed as someone posted earlier.

I used to get frustrated by the enemys erratic maneuvers that couldn't be followed. (At least by me).
Everything feels more natural now although I find it harder due to tourqe effects.

Oleg & team deserve a real pat on the back for what they have done with this sim & for their continued support.

I hope they continue to add new aircraft & objects/maps either from 1c or from a third party as I find the variety in aircraft is one of the most immersive aspects of the game. It will take BOB a long time to get to where Il2 is now as far as aircraft in game.

I do think the free addons should stop though.
New aircraft should be included either through
digital download (preferably) or through paid cd addons.

P.S. Does anyone know if the inclusion of the U.S. aircraft in 4.0 signals the end of the legal issues with U.S. aircraft manufacturers?

Thanks

Mark

I am a dedicated FanBoy, this sim is not second to none its the only one and has been for awhile. It has given me hundreds of hours of entertainment, single missions, campaigns, skins, online DF, online wars, squads. I joined a wonderful squad; 123 great bunch of guys. I have now joined II./Jg1 for the more formal training and operations aspect. Then there is all the flying to be done. There are still aircraft I have never flown and probably never will.

Thanks to Oleg's dedication there has been an ongoing support for this Sim even after the PF debacle (my opinion)which did little to stimulate my interest as what we already had was sufficient (my opinion) to keep me busy. How many software programs have kept supporting a product for this many years.

Thank you Oleg and the team.

Tony

I am new to posting in this forum. I wanted to say....OLEG AND CREW...YOU ROCK! Thanks for the greatest sim ever and all of the hard work you put into it. I am a complete combat flight sim addict because of this game. I WILL be getting BoB when it is finally released. Thanks again. (I guess I am a fan boy too)
