Hello all.

I just felt obligated to put this in, for the benefit of the developement team. Every time a new patch comes out, there are 15 new threads complaining about what it didn't fix, what it should have fixed, and what it broke. I just wanted to note that after 3.03, I noticed a very dramatic IMPROVEMENT in graphics quality, particularly the water and terrain lighting effects. I'm running an older system that is pretty much mid-range for PF, and I just assumed those of us who didn't go out and buy a new computer with the sim just had to take what we could get, like with every other game that comes out.

Just wanted to let the team know that someone noticed what they did.

Thank you.

Indeed that is a good post. I too run PF on a mid to low range rig and it looks great. The only trouble I ever have is during campaign missions when my poor 2.4 processor is nearly over taxed. I've found only one serious bug in 3.03. but thats a different thread.

Thanks Oleg and crew for the hard work. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Yea in spite of my earlier complaints, I really noticed overall this to be a great patch. I have a lower system too and it runs great and looks good. Well as long as I don't try to run the 1000 plane raids they had going on over Europe in 44-45. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif Could we even put 1000 planes in?? Anyway great work guys. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is the several gunsight/HUD options available now.

I'm with you, though some of the missions and camps I can play at half speed. (750 Duron, GF2MX400 64mb 512mb 133 RAM)

Absolutely noone seems to have posted about the new maps either, which I've quite enjoyed playing with. Good stuff.

What really cracks me up is that when I got into simming the way I am now I had a PII 233MHZ PX on a 32M video card... and I had a hard time playing CFS 1 on the bomber escort missions up high. It was so slow it wouldnt even rate as a slide show. I had to settle for the instant action missions... and I balked at spending more than $14 for my Logitech Wingman Attack 2 stick. ROFLMAO!!! In the 4 years since then I have spent easily @$1500-$1800 on upgrades. 1 piece at atime.

LMAO Bearcat!

The only way I would have got anything to fly on my first rig would have been to paint a roundal on the side of the case and throw it out the window.

I'm to frightened to total up what I have spent on new rigs & upgrades since IL2. That does not include joysticks, throttle etc. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

Just checking. could anyone tell me what to expect with my upgrade I'm planning on soon.
PF plays pretty good on my current PC. I run into slow frame rates when their is action around the ships when they are firing on enemies.
I plane on building myself a PC with AMD 64 and new mother board, DDR2 memory, 6800 PCI express.
Anybody with experiance on speed and quality with similiar machine?
Thanks

bernardpb,

My system isn't the fastest out there, but it compares closely with whayt you've listed you're going to build. Suffice it to say...you'll be pleased. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

BoB is another story though. When FB was released, there were functions which couldn't play (very well at least) on the hardware that was available then (i.e. "perfect" landscape). I expect similar experiences with BoB and the release date potentially being pushed back to early 2006 encouraged me to go ahead and build. I'll just do it again in a year...right before BoB is released. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

To keep this thread on track let me also say I too have been very pleased with the last couple patches for PF. many things have been addressed and the IQ is as good or better than it's ever been. People oftentimes get fixed on "new flyables" and overlook the other stuff.

Now if we could just get that 3.04m patch...

Thanks for the input Thunderbolt56.
I'm looking forward to getting started, but I think I will wait couple months and then start looking for some deals.

You want to get the new ASUS with PCIe /SLI and get two 6800's PCIe/SLI.. Its worth it. Im waitng for the price to drop on the 6800gt's...
