All things Russian are superior.

All things American suck.

Russian planes were not that bad, it's German propaganda.

P-51's really suck that badly. No one can explain
why there are more P-51s still flying as warbirds
that all other fighters combined.

Okay, now i'm only going to ask this once- which one of you has been shooting Sergio down?
It's not fair to him- he's read a book and seen a movie that told him if he flew a P51 he would be safe.
So STOP it, we can't afford to let him feel people are picking on him. He might convince the USA to boycott Oleg's products http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

In fact it's the other way around, for example the La5/7 is not even close to it's real life performance, it's way too slow, doesn't turn anywhere, cannons couldn't hurt a puppy, and no-one even bothers to fly it anymore because of the fact that it bleeds energy like a big fat cow. Terrrible waste. [/end_of_sarcasm]

Excerpt from the licence agreement:

"Anti-whining clause: you are permitted to whine about Maddox Games performance only and exclusively after returning your legally owned game CDs for a re-fund. Any attempt to fly a Maddox Games simulator anulls and invalidates all your previous whining, notwithstanding offline tests for problem reporting via ORR. "

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif This is an informative note just to remind you that IL2Compare 2.5 (the most recent) was (is still) showing the data corresponding to the AI FM in v.3.02, which at that time wasn't even the same as the FM for human players.

OTOH, argument (http://encarta.msn.com/dictionary_/argument.html) may be taken to mean 'disagreement: a disagreement in which different views are expressed, often angrily', and the initial post by sergio in this thread is a paradigm of that http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

You have to be more specific Sergio. Where did you get the idea that the P-51 in this sim sucks compared to Russian planes?

Are you flying it against Russian planes on a kiddie arcade server? Fly on a historical server with historical maps and plane-sets and you will not have to fly against them, would that help?

In communist countries, there is not the ability or freedom or finances to restore warbirds, which has become a millionair's hobby in the United States and in other capitalist nations of the world. That is probably more the reason for there being so many more american WWII warbirds than those from communist or axis countries.

The other reason the P-51 might suck for you in this sim is your use of non-historical tactics. In WWII Allied fighters flew in well -organized groups, and attacked enemy fighters in that way too. They did not use the plane in the manner 90% of this community uses it, as lone cowboys attacking thier opponents in low to medium speed turn-fights.

If you flew the Mustang historically, in organized groups using high-speed passes on your opponents and covering each others tails, then you would glean historical results with it and dominate any online server you would wish to.

As far as offline flying goes, with the poor state of AI intelligence and flight modeling in this sim, flying offline is not even worth including in a conversation.

Those who are most successful in virtual combat are always those who use historical tactics and techniques when fighting, whether they are in groups or flying lone-wolf.

If you are having a tough time and are getting your a ss regularly handed to you in virtual combat, it is because you are a bad pilot. Being a bad pilot can be either from a lack of experience, which can be remedied by study and practice, or it can be a result of a lack of apptitude for flying. There are lots of those who's egos want to be successful at something, but who's brains are not capable.

You can draw in-game performance curves with manual testing.

Just remember that whining is not about facts, not about arguments, not about improvement opportunities. Whining exists simply for the the sake of whining, period.

The point of this thread is not to give answers which would make sense of any kind, therefore I completely ignore what you just wrote. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

No really, good points there, some people just don't have the persitence to learn and USE historically accurate tactics, especially, as it very often would require some sort of communications and team tactics, which are ahcieved only by proper study and practice. Lone-wulfing was quite rare back then.

It did happen, at least the Finns sometimes went "lone-wolfing". Read an account of one pilot (sorry don't have the source here) who was flying solo and spotted a formation of Russian bombers and escorts above him. He counted on that they couldn't see him, because he was flying under them, over a forest. Quick approach from beneath, attack and away from the escorts.

Yes, I decided to put it in that way, as I'd read of some occasions where finns would be flying solo, and even attack enemy formations. I'd guess because of the small number of fighters/pilots Finland had back then.

Sergio try flying earlier Yaks and Las on a server with some good Fw-190 pilots present. That would verify soviet part of "all". Now Yak-3 and La-7 are a different story. Dont know about Yak-3 but La-7 is still, contrary to Olegs words overmodelled (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/8361084014/p/2)in climb, while P-51 is still undermodelled in that area. Not to mention P-51 having its in-line engine far more vulnerable than some other in-lines, while Yak-3 has unflammable fuel tanks...

Btw: keep P-51 fast, enter combat zone never lower than 1,5km, fight in vertical and you can have K/D=3 on DF server, where La-7s and Yak-3Ps (plus Spitfires) are the most common oponent.
