View Full Version : Oleg, Drop down menu for IP addys in game console

A suggestion, it would be a nice addition to have a drop down menu for IP addys in the multiplay, join server window of the game console. This way, players could store the games that they join by IP without getting on comms or other and typing IP in every time. Just click.

That's the best idea I've heard in a long time.

...And instead of just viewing a list of addresses, it would be cool if you could name them.

Now THAT..........would be awesome - great idea.

Why do we need Hypno Lobby? We should be able to find them ingame without typing in a IP address. Most "modern" games have that option.

Kinda surprised me that we needed a extra program to fly online with http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif .

If you look at Ea games famious Half life and Half Life2 series (I play it a lot too) Then you will see that they have a very successful in game server menu. They have a buddies list in the game so you can join games that your buddies are in just by finding them. Or you can filter out the servers you want to see, just usa, just UK, just germany. Then you can find a lagg free server everytime. maybe even switching to the Vac system or the punkbusters program for stopping cheeting, then get rid of that message that says (cheeting has been detected) I was always like, Cheeting? man a lot of people sure are doing it, but now I know it can be lag too just not cheeting.
The newer game series have some pritty cool intergrated tools, The buddies list for servers and players. Might be able to put an online stats buttion on the ingame menu, And have several diffrent stats section all baced on ranks and server difficulty, maybe even nationality.... Have people with higher ranks and all, make fights and wings that you can join into in Dogfight rooms and put a few dogfight maps out that will support a mission objective for the flights to compleat.....just some ideas.

might keep a lot of the pilots out of 3rd party programs to host the servers and it might get them back into ubi (or the in game menu fariation)

Salut and thank you.

Never never never ............

**** FPS noobs..... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/34.gif

Ever tried a coop mission ????? huh ?????

Seriously though........

The DF servers you fly in may not have a static ip or change ip's from time to time, the FREE Hyperlobby interface allows you to connect to those FREE servers(DF) and coop missions hosted in the Hyperlobby.

So it makes no sense to have permament ip's in the IL2 IP screen as they change so often.

You know, this is for ideas, and not call people noobs....

You ever heard of a dedicated server? yeah well most the time there ip's dont change.
So if you like the server you flew in, you can find it ez next time...wow thats a hard concept to grasp..... and when did UBI ever make you pay for flying on there il2 server? hmm to me it makes scince...less programs running in the background might help somepeoples game play.

Oh dear...

What part of my "seriously though" didnt you get?
Sorry if you are a bit sensitive.

1.Hyperlobby closes down when IL2 launches dont run in background.
2.You may find yourself paying to fly sooner than you think.(BoB)
3.Even dedicated servers may have ip changes.

I like ideas that are plausable but this is a wrong turn and only applicable for Dogfight Servers (DF). A complete waste of code change.

The comments about "free" were aimed at the fact that dedicated servers cost money to run and good 100mb servers are rare in IL2. If you start to turn it into FPS (First person shooter) style interface this rubs against most of the people flying out there I would think. If your squad want to help pay for the server then great but a serious server has at least 50mb connex.

If anything IL2 needs to turn away from AIRQUAKE styling and rebuild the marque it made for simulation.

All the above is IMHO. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Have a nice Christmas

HEHE Cujo, I will sirhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

as for the bend in the topic, hey folks lighten up.

Was just a suggestion to Oleg, cause we run into a need sometimes and it sounded like a good idea, no hunt, no feeling like a noob, just put pointer on your buddies ip and fly.
