View Full Version : Altering handling characteristics

Is there some way to alter the handling characteristics of some of the subs? I've checked through several of the .cfg files and used a few of the .sim reading files, but can't seem to locate any option that alters the handling characteristics of a sub.

If anyone could point me in the right direction, would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Does know one know where these settings can be accessed? Is this the one thing on a ship that can not be altered?

theres alot of things that can be altered..but what do you mean handling ?.what i'm saying is ..short of putting a hinge in the middle of the boat ..it's only going to turn in it's given radius ...aka mass in motion..same with stopping..other than back emergency and a hard over on the helm..it's going to move forward untill friction wins... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

Diving speeds, diving stability, turning speeds (this can be altered with rudder shapes, sizes, and individual control over port/starboard engines), turning stability. All of these are what I consider "handling" characteristics.

I must admit to being quite frustrated with the inability to have control over each engines RPM's. I want to be able to leak some heavy balast in a controlled amount, set the dive planes all the way down, rudder full and 1 engine emergency back to get a high turn rate fast dive. Since the game itself does not give me this control, the only way is to alter the individual turning and diving mechanics of the boat.

this i understand..i guess the est way would be to install sh3 in a seperate partion on the drive..or another drive...to test mods and shuch..that's what i do ..but that's going to take alot of deep tweeking in the files..good luck http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif
