Talking about the crossroads at midnight, selling your immortal soul in exchange for fame and fortune, for the power to play guitar and be famous, to get women and liquor, to travel the land in style and be paid for it, to live forever, at least in legend and song.

http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Have you ever heard the song "Crossroad Blues"? Eric Clapton covered it, and Led Zeppelin took a single lyric from it for their "travelling Riverside Blues".

It was written by the original recorded bluesman, Robert Johnson. Legend has it that Johnson sold his soul to Legba, the Devil, at the crossroads at Midnight to gain his guitar playing skill and innovation, as well as his success.

You wouldn't be able to steal his Mojo, although he could have lost it. But whether he used his Mojo or let it wither, Old Man Splitfoot would collect on the bill one day. Robert Johnson was a notorious seducer of women, as well as a drinker and gambler, and some say, cheat.

No one was surprised much when he ws killed.

In his song, "Crossroad Blues" he alludes to his Deal with the Devil. In it, he calls out for help, for someone to get his friend, Willie Brown.

He also recorded other songs in which he wanted to 'beat his woman till I get satisfied', 'have possesion over Judgement day' and walk and talk with the Devil about badness.

Blues is blood http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif I love the Clash but I can't live without the Blues.

The problem was, he thought you only had fun if you did it his way. He liked to play in an arcade way. That's fine if that's what you like. I don't, and he couldn't see my views. It's just to weird for me to fly anywhere but the cockpit. He couldn't understsnd that, and constantly told me I wasn't having fun. I don't know what that smile on my face is all about then.

Robert Johnson's deal was to be able to play and have good luck with women. He died on his hands and knees, barking like a dog, a victim of poison whiskey given to him by a bar owner whose wife he had "taken to the picture show". I heard Johnny Shines talk about it and he said he suffered badly for a couple of days before he died.

I rather liked RBJ, he was an unashamed proponent of playing the game just for fun and that really helped balance the full-real enthusiasts. Definitely a loss to the boards.

Now the late Huckbien_FW, on the other hand...

Geez, whatever happened to Huckbien_FW as well?

I miss those wars between him and 'Chimp...

He was very "single-minded", bit like his single brow. Maybe he got weighed down by his mono-egomanic self "ID".
The one and only mono-ban, glasser,,, sheesh

I never met Hitler personally, but I must admit there was striking similarities between the two.

Whatever happened to RBJ_4. I remember what a shock I got when I first saw a post from him. I was afraid that RBJ might have cloned himself.

I heard somewhere that if you tap your heels togethor three times and whisper, "Trim-on-a-slider" each time, RBJ will appear and grant you three wishes.

Problem is the three wishes can only deal directly with trim on a slider...
