Hi im switching from Cfs3 to Il-2, I bought the 1946 package and is waiting for it to arrive. One thing I wished they had included in cfs3 was a heavy level Bomber (b-17 ,lancaster-b-29 etc) so i was just wondering if in all the 200+ aircraft they included a heavy level bomber.

B-29, B-17 and B-24 are in as AI only (though you can fly them from external view in certain types of online servers) and Russian TB-3 is in and flyable.

Quite a few medium bombers are in and flyable.

Nope. You can level bomb in the B-25. You can fly the B-17 and B-29, but only from outside, as there are no cockpits modeled for them.

There is only one patch for il2 46 and that does not include any flyable but isnĀ“t there enough http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Flyable aircafts in 46.

Ahem. The TB-3 is a flyable heavy bomber.

Hit the Nugget's Guide and The Essentials thread in my sig. You will love this sim.. but it is different from CFS.. Once you get used to the interface and get your hardware set up properly you will love it. Out of curiosity what kind of hardware do you have?

We'll never see a truly flyable B-17, B-24, B-29 or Lancaster in the IL-2 series. The developers have folded up the table and put all their attention into their upcoming series, Storm of War.

On the positive side, the few medium bombers that are in 1946 (B-25, He-111, Ju-88, G4M Betty, Pe-2/Pe-3, Arado 234 jet bomber) have detailed bombsights that are far more interesting than the oversimplified fixed crosshairs in CFS-3. 1946's sole flyable four engined bomber, the Soviet TB-3, is a pre-war open cockpit design with an enclosed bombardier's compartment--watch out for rolling office supplies. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

A quick aside: Did you ever try the FirePower add-on for CFS-3? It is by Shockwave, and includes all of these bombers as flyables. They couldn't fix CFS-3 lack of an operable bombsight, so you won't have a working Norden, but the overall detail of the bombers surpasses anything in the stock CFS-3 game.

If you're interested in this product, look for the "Aircraft Power Pack" at software stores like GameStop or EB Games, or at BestBuy. Shockwave Productions also sells it through their website. APP is the best way to get FirePower because it comes with a few extra skins plus a bonus flyable P-51D. APP also includes another Shockwave product, the "Wings of Power: Heavy Bombers and Jets" addon for Flight Simulator 2004: A Century of Flight.
