Hi

My friend and I wish to play IL2 1946 multiplayer, where is the dedicated server tool ? as when we try and make a game via the in-game tools it seems to only make a LAN game not internet.

so where can i find the V4.07 dedicated server which will work with the latest patch?

I should think he would be able to join you using the in game one, he would need your IP to connect. Are you sure its not afirewall preventing it happening?

This may help regarding Lan
http://www.airwarfare.com/tech/conn.htm

The 4.07 is here
http://www.3dgamers.com/news/more/1096486572/

but is that not for the merged versions of the game????? see http://www.ubi.com/US/Downloads/Info.aspx?dlId=2176

If you have the 1946 DVD I think you want 4.08 as the DVD was 4.07

Welcome to the forums by the way and sorry for the delay in an answer.

i downloaded and installed the 4.08 dedicated server from
http://www.3dgamers.com/games/il2sturmovik1946/downloads/

however its not a dedicated server - possibly a patch as all it installed was some .SFS files and paint schemes :S

where is the ACTUAL dedicated server :S

bump!

so according to
http://www.3dgamers.com/games/pacificfighters/downloads/

do i need to get these files for IL2 1946 dedicated server to work?

server303.exe - 350MB
pf_dedicated_server_v304m.exe - 20 MB
server401m.exe - 75 MB
pf_dedicated_server_v402m.exe - 30MB
server403m.exe - 45 MB
server404m.exe - 25 MB
server405m.exe - 90 MB
server406m.exe - 200MB
server407m.exe - 220MB
407 - 408 - 130MB

total of 1185 MB
1.2GB???!! for a dedicated server, that cant be right? the actual game is proably smaller

YES... A hassle (and a pity), but hopefully someone running a server has worked out an easier way.

A dedicated server runs on its own machine in a dos box.No video, audio or inputs. You can not play from the same machine that is hosting a dedicated server.
That said you need the server files starting at 2.04 and going all the way to 4.08(if that is the version you have)

If you look around(maybe on mission4today site)someone has made an iso image of the complete dedicated server.

You ought to be able to connect direct ip to ip usingthe ingame window.Just one person creates a server and the other joins.I have also used Hamachi with good sucess.Check both your firewalls.(yours and your buddy's)Remember Windows xp firewall is on by default.

we have tried hamanchi - but we havent even been able to ping eachother via hamanchi let alone connect to another game

its not a firewall issue each of us can connect to others servers

weve tried making a server from the ingame tool but it never works http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

you could just both download hyperlobby and play on some of the already excellent servers and coops out there togther. This would stop you having to bother setting up a server, but you could still play togther and fly togther.

In order to host you need to forward port 21000.

You do not need to forward a port just to join.

Check here for your router.(some dsl modems have router built in)
