Ok can some try this I know it works with Vista not sure with XP.
Go to your config file and make sure the affinity mask is disabled with the simicolon.

Next start up any mission and pause. Tab out and bring up task manager. Right click on Il2.exe Go to set affinity. Click on the second cpu so both are checked. Go back in game where you paused it and see how much frame rates have gone up. I get a 50% increase.

I know this works wit Vista not sure about XP.

I also know another trick to keep it at both cpus for every program all the time.

Was it Vista that defaults everything to one cpu or was it just my machine?

Not giving any performance difference to me with XP.
I do use prioaff though normally on my quad core setup, which did seem to make a difference.

-You should set it to ProcessAffinityMask=3 and I think you will have teh same result under Vista.

Here, No difference, No improvement in Vista.

I also use WinLauncherXP in XP Pro and it is a bit smoother which devote prefered core exclusively to IL-2.
IL-2 never benefit from multi core.

I have done extensive testing on this a couple of years ago. I tried running Il2 on one core, two, three and even four. The best performance for my rig is running on two cores with processaffinitymask=2 enabled.
