I must admit I was shocked when I heard that. RIP tough guy. He had a good run of it while he was here. He set the world's record for the most broken bones in the ******ss Book. I can't remember how many at the moment.

Near 40 broken bones, IIRC. He lived a "hard life" as well. I remember his attempted jump over Caesar's Palace and the subsquent crash. One of the scariest things I've ever witnessed as he was tumbling like a rag doll down that landing ramp.

I had all of his toys back in the 70's....the Stunt Cycle, Scramble Van, Stunt Stadium, Sky Cycle, Stunt and Crash Car, Dragster....man, the kids on my block and I had tons of fun with those toys back then. We used to see who could crank that gyro handle the fastest and go the farthest. We set up jumps over everything from pets to neighborhood kids. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

That Kneevil bike was a toy that delivered.

In 1999 My brother-in-law needed a liver transplant, he was a Vietnam Vet and a hard-working family man. Evel was on the same list and got his first because supposedly he was in better shape medically to receive a transplant. My sisters husband died and left behind two young boys, hard to believe that a man who fought for his country was passed over for a guy who spent most of his life trying to kill himself.

RIP He may have been a bit bizarre, but you have to love a guy who delivered AND paid a huge price to be the best he could be.

One of the great showman as well.

I saw him jump 13 busses sometime around 1975.
It takes some big stones to do stuff like that.

And how! Looking down at my hand, I can still see the faint remnants of scars on my knuckles from my hand slipping off of that wheel handle and smacking the sidewalk, while trying to get MORE speed! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

That reminds me, Han. They say parachute malfunction, I still have a haunting suspicion that he panicked and pushed the chute early once he realized what the hell he had just gotten himself into, lol. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

A great showman and American icon.
Ironic that he died in bed.
Damned dangerous things those beds.

Choctaw, no i didn't make that skin, i've had it for ages, since the IL2 skins website days, no the pilot isn't Evel its Belushi from the movie 1941.

Ploughman, yes i had the stunt bike too, loved it!, favourite toy, i was gutted when he successfully completed a stunt, only to shoot off down the embankment, never to be seen again.

He married among people dressed in cheapo B-series 'Roman-Egyptian' attire. That should count as a stunt. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

So the crazy guy finally got it from the grim reaper after all those death defying stunts. Wow. R.I.P.
I made ramps when I was a kid in the 70s and pedaled my bike as hard as I could but I could never make it farther than fifteen feet, I still have the scars to remind me.
