From time to time on this board there has been reference made to the first war and its pilots.

I wonder if any of you have ever read this story...Rickenbacker (http://richthofen.com/rickenbacker/)

take your time and read maybe a chapter a day or so...I found it to be extremly interesting and quite well told.

(not to beat the dead horse...but I doubt any of these planes' manufacturers will grotesquely sluice up from the bowels and filth of corporate hell and blackmail developers of WWI sim)

You know I enjoy this era more than any other if only for the rawness. No way are WWI dogfights boring.

Many tried to get interst in an addon but there was not enough modelers to push forward. I would gladly pick it back up but I doubt it would ever see the light of day. Almost had Luthier convienced though http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

Who knows maybe we can kickstart it.

yes, as much as I would like to see a 1c caliber WWI sim, I really just wanted to share the link to Rickenbackers own story about his airial combat exploits back in the day.

If you have not read it - or dont think you would like to, just read the first chapter and you will be hooked. guaranteed.

Yes, I've read a bit on Capt. Eddie and there is a lot to his story.

One of my most prized possessions is a first edition printing (1919) of Eddie Rickenbacker's book Fighting Against the Flying Circus". My copy also has a 1955 presentation inscription in it to an unknown person Dave Hall I think.

The book, though, is a gem to read. His own words and the prose of the early 1900's lend themselves to some compelling and enjoyable reading.

I've had it 4 years and the appreciation from myself as well as other collectors has more than doubled the value.

Most of my collection is based on the era well after WWI (1938 - 1950) but the few books I have that cover The Great War are some of the best.
