I know a few other people mention B-17 The Mighty Eighth on a thread regarding flight sims. I just thought you might want to see a couple screenshots of some familiar scenery from a different perspective. . .

February 1, 1944 (B-17 Mission 1): John Dallworth€s squadron is sent on a mission to bomb the U-Boat Base at Brest. They successfully take out the maintenance and supply pens (Building A), but fail to damage the main pens. One bomber goes down after colliding with friendly fighters damaged by flack. All 10 crew bail out and are captured. John Dallworth is wounded and is confined to a hospital bed for two weeks. He earns the Purple Heart.

Brest Harbor. . .

February 10, 1944 (B-17 Mission 4): John Dallworth€s squadron is sent on a mission to bomb Brest Harbor. The Easternmost pier suffers heavy damage, and a freighter is sunk, but the Bomb Damage Estimate is categorized as a €œNear Miss€. Both the pilot and co-pilot are slightly wounded, requiring replacements for the next flight. No bombers were shot down during this mission!

Then back to the U-Boat Base. . .

March 1, 1944 (B-17 Mission 1): Steve McElroy sets off on his first mission in command of the Bad Habbit. After being attacked by German fighters over the English Channel, they continue on and successfully bomb the U-Boat base at Brest, totally destroying the facility. Steve, his co-pilot and tail gunner are all wounded on the mission.

Man, I gotta say. . .I NAILED the place! Somewhere in the neighborhood of 30, 1000 lb. Semi Armor Piercing Bombs riped through the roof. You shoulda seen the shock wave!

Note to self: Make sure to be at sea on March 1st 1944, February 10th, 1944, and February 1st. 1944 on account of rain.

Funny stuff. I actually gave up on St. Nazaire! The weather was bad every time, and when I could barely see, I missed to the east, landing the bombs in the drink. Too long of a flight to keep that up. Had to fly through a few flack batteries on the way, and the Luftwaffe swarmed like hornets! Priorities quickly shift to Oil Fields and Railway junctions and the like.
