Ok I've finally finished the Mosquito MkVI cockpit. Just some tidying up to do and I'll submit it to Oleg and Maddox Games next week.
Hopefully Oleg will be able to include it in the same patch as the Ju88. Thanks all those who have wanted the Mossie in FB and have done so much to encourage me to get it finished. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

The Mosquito MkVI was used as a Day and night fighter-bomber/intruder/long range fighter developed from the Mk II prototype. First flew 01/06/42, production aircraft flew Feb 1943. Four 20mm cannon and four .303 Browning guns in the nose, 2x250lb bombs in belly and 2x250lb bombs on wing racks (500lb later on Series ii aircraft), or 4x60lb rocket projectiles beneath each wing, or 1 mine or depth charge beneath each wing, and combinations of drop tanks and offensive weapons. The cannon had 175 rounds and the brownings 780 rounds each.

Is that 175 rounds of 20mm per cannon or 175 total????

And 780 rounds of .303 per gun. Not bad. That'll definately tickle some folks, hehe. Muzzle flash shouldn't affect this craft too badly either as the guns are fairly low on the nose unlike the 109 and 110, etc.

Certainly that number would be per cannon. Thats how its listed. The Tempest V has 200 rounds per gun (although post war Tempest II's only had 160) so you'd expect a similar number from a heavily armed aircraft like the Mosquito!

This bird is going to make for some fantastic mission building. It did alot and has alot of possibilities!

We're getting the fighter bomber varient aren't we(not sure which), so its not as fast as the bomber. My reference on the FB VI quotes max speed as 358mph(576kmh)
PR MK XVI 408mph (656kmh)
F MK II NF 370 (595kmh)

Only some Axis ac are slower and of course given certain conditions, ie altitude advantage of Mossie. The Mossie is no P38 so it won't be able to compete one to one with single engined fighters. Provided they carry out their mission and don't hang about though, it'll be a frustrating plane to try and catch in a level chase for sure.

Glad to see this included as it's one of the best ever Warbirds, will open up a very interesting dimension to this sim.

Yeah definately not a dogfighter but you could score a few lucky kills if nobody was watching. The firepower put out and concentrated as it is would probably tear a wing off in a very shot burst.

Even the fighter version should have a speed advantage if flown properly and allowed to build speed.

It will definately be a better twin than the Me 110, and the firepower will be absoluteley awesome. Certainly I would'nt tackle it in a head on, even in a 190 in with Mk108

WolfMondo you could be right about the Mossie used energy fighting, but you'll have to be very wary. If you get caught in low energy state you're going to burn very nicely. Mossie can soak up loads of punishment but it's not made of delta wood.
