View Full Version : Third Wire's WWI Flight Sim

Since there seems to be a goodly amount of interest in WWI flight sims, I thought I'd post this forum started by Third Wire about its forthcoming WWI flight sim:

By the way, their WINGS OVER VIETNAM sim is a fascinating item. Demonstrates clearly why the U.S. had a very hard time fighting a war with the generation of aircraft they had and the generation of weapons they had prior to '72.

Third wire sims are a lot of fun, and his comunity are very very good campaing makers. I'm playing a Korea war addon and there are many others: Yom Kippur, Falklands, Iran-Iraq, Desert Storm, Guadalcanal, etc
The flying models are not as good as FB but is a lot of fun (and my second favourite flight simulation)

All true, ojcar1971. It isn't Maddox but it's not CFS3, either, thankfully. My second favorite, too.

Their stuff is fun. Just got Wings Over Europe "Cold War Gone Wild... I mean... Hot"... I also own Wings Over Vietnam and Strike Fighters Project 1... great fun sims... and not all that bad.

I bought Wings Over Vietnam, installed it and played it about 30 minutes. When I played it,it was good;but not home.
I kept thinking about IL-2/AEP/PF.I'm sure I've contracted MIDAS(Maddox induced dogfight addiction syndrome).

As therapy,I'll try flying WOV more, but this MIDAS is consuming me. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif

It ain't the real thing, but, in the event you are feeling really masochistic, it is a really good teaching tool on the air war over North Vietnam. As a virtual Thud Driver, I've been killed or thrown in the Hanoi Hilton countless times. I got one MiG with a Thud's Vulcan and one with a salvo of four Sparrows from my F-4---and I feel really pleased! Probably the hardest combat flight sim in which to do well there is.
