I have Combat over Europe. Is it any good? Can I install on top of FB+AEP+PF (latest DGEN) without messing things up?
Is the same add on that Battle over Europe? The campaings are dinamic or static?

If it looks like this it's not Battle over Europe:

Sorry I don't know the answer to your question.
I don't think many people here on the forums have it. You could ask in Community Help as well. Here's the Community Help forum:

Battle Over Europe came out first. It is DGen-based campaigns for Western Europe. The Normandy and Ardennes maps were built by the BoE authors for BoE but we got the maps "for free" back in FB patch v1.22. There is more information about BoE in this thread (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/26310365/m/6351064724).

Combat Over Europe is a separate 'missions and skins' addon that came out a few months after Battle Over Europe was released. It is published by GMX media and has a different author. CoE campaigns are all hand-plotted 'scripted' missions; some people might argue that scripted campaigns can be more interesting or historically authentic than DGen campaigns. In this particular case CoE got a bad reputation by the community because its author chose to title his product very similarly to Battle Over Europe which lent itself to the idea that he was stealing customers away from BoE while using the BoE team's maps. The same author has inflicted similar confusion upon the FB community by releasing a sequel add-on called "Aces Campaigns" which new players wrongly assume is the Aces Expansion Pack.

I've never played Combat Over Europe but I did buy it for a friend at about $5 USD when EB Games was clearing its shelves of it. I took a look at what was on the disc though and confirmed that there was some nice historical and training material in .PDF format. It also included FB patch 1.22 (which you don't need) and I think some English speech files that had been posted for free by the FB community.

If you can pick up CoE for only a few bucks it might be worthwhile. It has a library of custom skins and will give you some Western Front missions and campaigns, including a faked 'Battle of Britain' campaign I believe. Be forewarned that CoE was released before Aces Expansion Pack so there were no Spitfires yet and the author was using Soviet planes to substitute. The P-38 and several other 'Western front' planes that are now in 4.04m but were not available to the author before AEP and PF. I don't know if there is a CoE update patch of any kind.

Here is the CoE author's website (http://www.combatplanes.ca/products.htm). Combat Over Europe isn't even listed under the products section anymore; I'd suggest that "Forgotten Battles: Aces Campaigns" has replaced it and would be a better purchase for you. Check out the Samples area for free missions and mini campaigns.

Stoopid me, I missed that part. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif All static/scripted missions so you shouldn't mess up anything by installing.

Skycat I have COE and AC both. COE does use spits in it. They came out shortly before he released it and if I remember right they are mark 5s......

The few missions I have flown have been very well thought out in my oppinion and very fun to fly. Granted I have only flown about 6 missions into the BOB senerio and a few of the other stand alone but that is more to do with my limited time to fly right now than the quality of the product.

I have flown Banzi and find that COE is much better thought out and much more fun to play. And that is saying alot because I love the F4F over the spits... ok the spits are easier to fly but if you learn to fly the F4f the challange is much more fun than the spits... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

When I got home from work today, there on my doormat was "Battle over Europe" 9.99. Also, my "IL2 Complete Edition" DVD, 14.99.
The DVD being for ease of installation if my H/D goes down again.
Now, with the "PE-2" addon imminent.!!
I'd better get some overtime in.

The P47 D-Day campaigns for Aces and COE are described identically (word for word) in the campaign setup page but one of them has approx. 100 missions while the other only 30 or so. Does anyone know if one was an expansion of the other? Thanks

Combat Over Europe came out before Aces Campaigns ... but I wouldn't consider Aces Campaigns an 'expansion' of COE because you don't need COE. For safety's sake, in case Aces has revised missions/campaigns originally in COE, I'd suggest you install COE first if you're going to install them both.

I don't have either so for all I know Aces Campaigns has all-new missions/campaigns. Maybe there is no conflict whatsoever between the two products.
