I'm planning on buying this product (never tried one) to play IL2 FB/PF. What are your experiences with this product and these games?

Can I use this to peek around the support bars on the front of cockpit canopy? What about getting better look at that crosshair that is most of the time only half visible (Like in Ki-84)?

Half visible crosshair: use Shift+F1 to center it

I have the trackIR 3 Pro and it's amazing. Unfortunately, IL-2 does not support 6DoF so you cannot see around the bars. It is still well worth the money though because of the incredible immersion (and thumb-relief http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif) it provides.

Please correct if I wrong. IL-2:FB only allows 2 degrees of freedom in virtural cockpit - eyes can rotate up/down and left/right. No head translation. In FB you can't move your virtual head to see around canopy framework. 6DOF will be in BOB.

But TIR is still useful in IL2?

What is BOB?

Yes... TiR is absolutely useful in IL2 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I bought my TiR3Pro + Vector Expansion - I gotta say...it's so natural http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Even IL2/FB/AEP/PF combination not use 6DOF, it's smoother now with that VE...I play two weeks only dot.

But if you buy TiR4 you don't need VE... correct me if I'm wrong http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

As far as IL2 & TIR I would not be without it. As Jetbuff said "It's amazing"
I found within a few hours of using it, it had become second nature. So the learning curve is not steep. Unlike learning to use rudder pedals after many years of using a twist stick http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

BOB(Battle of Britain)is Oleg's next sim. Release date yet TBA.

IL-2 only has 2DoF (for now?) but other sims and certainly BoB will support 5. (the 6th, rolling motion, really isn't that important) Even in IL-2 though, vector expansion improves tracking accuracy in the 2 available degrees of freedom.

TrackIR 4 comes with the vector expansion and a wider FoV. TrackIR 3 pro can support 6 DoF if you purchase the vector expansion but since it comes out to about the same cost as a TrackIR 4 (where the cost of the vector expansion is included) the choice is obvious.

Get it, try it for a couple weeks, and you'll probably love it (especially after you customize it to your liking).

And if you don't love it, you can probably sell it for only a small loss.

I've had TrackIR2 for some time now and find it _essential_--it is so very immersive and intuitive (and easier on the thumb http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif )
