View Full Version : @Bearcat- regarding zoom view on x-45

Bearcat- how did you get on with the setup as in this thread?

Have you kept views on aux switch or did you move it to hat?

The reason is that with having bought track IR I have freed up hat

I like this setup

but it would feel natural to keep views on hat.

any advice appreciated.

Hi Dieg,

While you're waiting for Bearcat I thought I'd offer some info about my setup, which took quite a while to tweak/perfect, but is very comfortable and intuitive now, for me anyway http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

When I first got the X45 I made up some diagrams to help me keep track of my setup. If you are interested, you can see them here (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/1601025123/r/2781065123#2781065123)

I've been able to accomodate land and carrier-based controls, as well as rockets, bombs and torpedos. Basically I fly hands off the keyboard, with the exception of aileron trim which I have mapped to my left and right arrow keys.

Thanks mate - some good ideas here -
I dont want to change my baisic set up too much but I am looking at ways to get the comms sorted and your ideas looks good
I will have to look at overall scheme again and put together all the good ideas I can get.

Happy to help in any way - there's obviously about a thousand ways to skin this particular cat and joystick settings are very personal http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

As you'll have noticed, there's nothing revolutionary about my Joystick map, but I am quite proud of the throttle setup and the mode switch options.

The thing I tried to do was to make each of the functions feel intuitive - like "pushing down" on the hatswitch that's next to the rudder rocker to drop the flaps, and "pulling up" on it to raise them. These functions could be anywhere, but they feel more logical and realistic, for me anyway, where I've got them. Likewise with dropping RPMs by tapping down on the small orange eight-way switch and raising RPMs by tapping up.

The other things I do, which the diagrams don't capture, is have rudder trim on the top rotary and elevator trim on the lower one. The large orange button I use to toggle my mapboard in modes 1 and 3 and toggle icon settings in mode 2.

More and more I am flying without icons, but I still occasionally crack and activate them when my concentration isn't spot on, or the map visibility is poor.

Good luck with your setup!

dieg... that setup is still a work in progress. I put zoom on my throttle which works great actually.. the zoom is only in mode 2 though. I am still trying to work through the setup though because I am not happy with it. The nice thing is that with TIR the zoom on the throttle is really nice because now I can do an instrument scan and zoom in so I can read the dials.. and it is smooth. As far as the zoom on the hat it works great. I put zoom on the 12 & 6 positions and prop pitch on the 3 & 9 positions.. but i think I will put my pitch back on the MSFFB throttle.

Bearcat -

I tried to PT you about this, but it didn't work so I'll have to ask you here.

Some 6-7 weeks ago Crazy Ivan banned me for a joke I made - guess he wasn't in the mood to laugh. Now it seems he had forgotten about me. Could you please check it with him. How long has he had in mind to keep me "hanging"? I haven't heard of anyone being banned for this long!

Thanx dude!

Jasko PM me with the screen name that was banned. I will talk to Ivan... it wont be the first time someone slipped through the cracks... I have done it myself.... more than once.

I use the big orange button on my throttle as an advanced command. When I press the button in it goes to gunsight view. When I release it returns to normal view. It is programed in the X45 with the default keys. End Pg Dn and Del. Works good for me. However I would like to try what you guys are talking about. What are the in game commands ? Is it progressive?

I still have the aux button set for zoom norm & wide view but I use the index finger hat on the trottle to zoom it. Check out this (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/4601038123/r/6361089123#6361089123) thread Maico.
