I really believe there are several that rank equally at lest for me. But if I absolutely had to choose one then I would go with Zeke vs Wildcats. Love that server and the missions play excellent. Of coarse it is the oldest of my favorites so it has been tweaked to perfection by Chad and others.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I mostly fly in WarClouds as it's usually the only full real or near full real server with anyone in it in the evenings here (Japan time). I like Wings of War, Zeke's vs Wildcats and DarkSkies too but they're almost always empty when I log on.

warclouds and spits vs 109s and zekes vs wildcats are all good hard difficulty servers that are up all the time.

of those top three ZEKES vs WILDCATS is the most realistic in map planes missions. and its not as uptight as some other servers.

definitely the best.

but i do enjoy warclouds under alias. just because its against the rules. and because i like icons for a change :P<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

as far as cockpit off servers... i cant say anymore its been too long. no more challenge there for me. but if you are new pit off servers are very fun but also very easy.

yes they can see you coming so they can dodge thus getting your shots on a plane may be more difficult but you have an invisible plane and radar and satellite television tracking every plane from take off to landing so it is very very easy.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

If you like the full-difficulty servers, don't forget Historia. Good missions, nice plane sets and a good bunch of players. I've never met an ar$ehole flying there, unlike some of the other servers mentioned so far.

cheers,

after sticking to "full real" for almost a couple of years now, I think "pit off" servers are harder for me haha

What reddeth says not only applies to you, but to everyone else. I always forget the silly crazy impossible deflection shots people can make, so when I try to evade my usual "get under their cockpit" kinda technique is useless. Needless to say I get shot down a lot more on cockpit off servers than cockpit on (that's why I tend to stay away from them now).
I also get more kills on cockpit off, but they're not near as fulfilling as on cockpit on servers, where the immersion fact is still somewhat present.

That said, my favorite servers on HL are "people hosted ones" meaning whenever some particular pilot hosts his own private dogfight game, with the settings I like, I like those a lot more than the big established servers like WC or spitsv109s.

Coops are also great.

But sticking to topic I'd say the best servers are, in no particular order, spits v 109s, zekes vs wildcats and warclouds WF. (Warclouds FISC, during the brief period it existed, was AWESOME)

Co-ops are the best under all conditions. They bring the best out of the game (e.g., moving ships, moving tanks), and bring the best out of the players as well (due to no immediate refly possible)

Try one of them, e.g., cmirko's "102nd COOP ded", and see it for yourself. It's a dedicated co-op server, meaning that the "host" never leaves, you can join it like a DF server, at any time (but flying starts when missions start).<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

A "world's first": fully automatic, dedicated COOP server controller. Features and available servers here (http://web.t-online.hu/rnzoli/IL2DSC/intro-coop.html).

Probably the only servers worth flying are ZekevsWildcats and Warclouds.

All the rest have rediculously unreal realism settings, so nobody flies them, and even in another 5 years time nobody will have realised that more realistic servers are what everyone is needing, (I've tried to make my own, but for some reason nobody has ever been able to connect. Something to do with my ISP.)

A year or so ago, Warclouds did have a problem with a certain admin who banned a few people because he was in a bad mood, (the banned players didn't break the rules, I witnessed it,) but apart from that, its a great server.

The only thing I'd improve about the realistic servers is I'd like to see more representative planesets. If there were more 'realistically playable' servers then there would be more natural variety, so its not the fault of Warclouds or ZekevsWildcats. But if I had my way I wouldn't ban the Luftwaffe aircraft that were better than the Allied aircraft. I'd like to see the occassional mission that allows Me-262s and other good planes. They really existed, so its unrealistic NOT to have them. The Ar-234 was a good in service bomber, slower than Allied fighters when its carrying its bombs (and thats when it counts,) but it includes the 'J' word, (J*t) so it will be banned too, be sure.

Hmmm, last two attempts at flying there and none of the missions will load. Just keeps giving mission load errors.

Also, you need to check the little boxes in the HL lobby prior to launching the game, as your in-game settings are harder than the server settings show in HL, and that might stop the more hardcore flyers from joining. As your server is NOT pit off, and doesn't have map icons...etc. Just FYI.

Here, here. I like Hosts that aren't over-controlling or try to dictate the way you fly. I also like a good historic match-up server, but any server, any night can be the good one for that night. It's usually about the company they keep most of all.

I also tend to try and stick to the servers where Hosts are smart enough to use proper MAX LAG and Speed Check settings, especially knowing the evil that lurks in the hearts of many HL pilots and "squadrons". http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
