Here's the scoop from our little local airshow, in a small town on Vancouver Island.

The vintage cars start to arrive, that's a Morgan behind the Rolls.

The night before, this fine looking craft was being washed. It's from 1947, type unknown to me. Behind it a Harvard molders quietly.

This fine 4-seater Yak-18 taxis to the static park area. There's a big bear on the tail.

A trio of Harvards arrive in formation, this is "Pussycat 2"

The day was a bit cold with a low ceiling. Here's the main area with thousands of people.

A 2-seater Yak-18. That's a Geoduck on the tail, from the previous owner.

The other Yak-18. Lots of red stars at this show.

This nifty Stearman is often seen puttering along the coastline.

Here's the second Harvard, T6 or SNJ to the Yanks. It's painted up like the old Red Knights display team from the 50's.

Another view of "Pussycat 2".

I spotted this taxiing in, the tan coloured plane is a rare Cessna 190, a radial engined "touring" plane of the 30's.

A very clean OH-1.

Another OH-1, this time a turboprop version bought from the Italian Air Force. This thing will land on a tennis court!!

The local SAR guys arrived in this HUGE Cormorant. Three engines and lots of speed, but they chew through spare parts like they are going out of style. A big THANK YOU to the Lib government of the 90's!!

Precision flying team the "Frasier Blues" wow the crowd in some fairly tame aerobatics. With a low ceiling, what else can you do??

Here's all four, one is painted up like a Snowbird. This one links to the biggest size.

A SAR Buffalo does a STOL landing in a few hundred yards.

This is more like it. A minty-fresh T-28 Trojan. Not even a bent cooling fin.

Fire it up!! The owner says it costs 200$ in gas and oil just to fire it up and get to the end of the runway, and 50 gallons an hour in the air. He flew this 3 times today....

The Trojan taxis in.

Thanks for looking! As an extra bonus here's a quick visit to the Y2K Spitfire hangar. Shown is a pic of Spitfire ace "Stocky" Edwards in his PERSONAL Fw-190, flown near the end of the war. His initials are painted on it!!! If I meet him I'll ask him what it was like to fly. The Spitfire has just had its horizontal stabiliser installed, but the light was too poor for pics.

This Argus has just been moved back into the static park at Comox after a re-painting. This impressive maritime patrol plane was based on the Bristol Brittania.

Front view.

As I shot, a pair of CF-18's broke and joined the landing pattern.

This old CF-104 was having split garden hose applied to the wing leading edges, which are razor-sharp.

That's it for now.

Great pics, looks like a great day.

The EH 101's a very nice looking machine. I see alot of them around where I live and they're handsome as can be and big as a truck. I didn't know it was hard on parts, a bit like the Lynx in that regard I guess. Nevertheless, I was chuffed to bits when it was selected to be Marine One in its US 101 format.

I MISSED the open house, dagnabit.

As for the EH101, it would sure look good in a hover above me if I was stranded or something, and it is sure a heck of a lot better than those clattering deathtrap Labradors.

BUT...

I will never forgive Chretien for bolloxing up the contract. 500 million dollars without ONE helo being bought.
