I play 100% realism with RUB1.43 (Yeah, I love to torture myself!). Anyway, finding convoys is a real challenge which I have grown to love. My heart leaps with joy however when I find a convoy in bad weather!

15kt wind and light fog is an SHIII submariners delite! Its 1944 and I cant even get close to a heavily defended convoy on a good weather day. But give me a heavy chop with light fog and I can blast Pantera out of the hydrophones and the destroyers just float happily along! I was zig-zagging through the convoy at periscope depth running flank speed and I had a field day. I was within 400 meters of ships when firing on them and still I wasnt detected. The escorts never even came to investigate the explosions of two tankers!

By now I am sure you see my point. The AI needs work. No way can it be realistic that a sub could keep up with a slow convoy while at 7 kts periscope depth picking off ships undetected. Heck I must have popped out of the heavy chop six times and no one cared!

A glaring immersion killer to an otherwise perfect sim.

P.S. And yes, I am complaining about my success! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

I think there is a mod for that. Increases DDs expirience and the range of ASDIC. I forget which one it is though. Actually I think its several different mods.

This site was working but it seems there is a problem. But when it comes back up, hopefully,
dig around there.

Thanks man.

I thought so. However I thought that those mods were a part of RUB?

Any RUB experts care to opine?
