They produced a quite similar effect. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I think that was one of the Mike tests around either Bikini or the Enewetak Atoll in the Pacific.

The one I want to see is the Novaya Zemlya blast from October 30 1961 - "Tzar Bomba" - 58,000,000 ton thermonuclear test. They say it broke windows 1000 km away...

It was the "Baker" test. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Among the ships used for the test was the battleship USS Nevada and some japanese ships.

You can visit the "nuclear fleet" today on the bottom of the sea but its not undangerous.

The shipwrecks are quite radioactive.

The Tzar bomb had about 54 megatons and was the most powerful nuclear weapon ever triggered.

Initially it was planned to build it in 100 megaton size but nuclear weapons over 20 megatons have been shown to be hard to predict.

Better said its harder to calculate the real energy output as the tonnage gets higher.

The Tzar bomb for example was much more powerful than the scientists had calculated.

In 100 megaton size it would had been even more unpredictable and propably would had sunk half of the peninsula ,killing the observing scientists and knocking all planes from the sky.

Thats why such nuclear weapons arent in service today anymore. Most nuclear weapons today have not more than 700 kilotons.

Of course Celeon has a vid of the Tzar test http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif
