Danish of course http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

No, of course they have to speak german in a german u-boat, but with the possibility to switch to english if wanted http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

My German lessons are a thing of a quite distant past. Yet I still play SH3 in german-only. I find it raher dumb when I see a German officer in a German U-boat speaking perfect English...

But that's just me http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

People would almost have to learn german to play the game then surely? Not the best idea id of thought.

Whats wrong with the happy medium - English with heavy German accents? Maybe even the odd full german word thrown in for the obviouse words like 'Ja' for 'yes' and 'mein kapitan' for captain. (sp?)

Id be more inclinded to agree with anyone here who found the SHV trailer with the german crew speaking in american accents and even taking from the culture- 'Hell No' and so on more 'wtf'able

They should all speak Klingon.

Actually I think the way they had it in SH3 would be just fine. Being able to switch between english and german. I can't speak german but I set the language to german just because it is a german boat.

"Good luck."

Just to be the devils advocate here...

In a way it is more realistic for players who don't speak german to play in English. Because the German Captains understood what their crews were saying, and I dare say they were overly concious of the fact they were speaking german.

On the other hand though. There's only a few phrases that are really important to know, so it doesn't take long to get to grips with it if you have the subtitles on. Maybe a 'Phrase translation' section in the manual?

Call me old fashioned but I've always felt comfortable with German speech and English text.

Besides, the only other language I am semi proficient in is Dutch.....not much use to a Kaleun http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/wacko.gif

I only just heard of SH5 coming out.Im very excited. I went to the website and watched the trailer. How terrible that trailer is! Germans speaking english with American accents and using phrases that no Germans would have used at that time.

I think English dialogue is essential but the way SH3 did it was very good IMO. Even if that is how they plan to make SH5 I think it would do the game justice if they changed the audio to the trailer. It made me cringe!

For trailers/cut scenes/ movies etc. I think the besst way to go is german language with subtitles. I don't speak German but this is supposed to be a simulator.

Well, they have the same trailer in German too, so Foe hopes they would do it the same as in SH3, where you could switch at will. If it ain't broke, don't fix it strategy
