NOTE: PF standalone and PF+FB+AEP are NOT compatible online! Users of stand-alone Pacific Fighters do not have any European Front content installed on their machines, and thus cannot participate in online games started by PF+FB+AEP users as it may contain aircraft and other features that doesn€t exist on their machines. Vice versa, PF+FB+AEP users will not be able to join games started by PF standalone users.

It makes complete sense given the new features of PF.

Hey if your that botherd about it just do two installs, one mixed one standalone. How many of your current flying buddies don't have FB / AEP anyway ? I don't see what the big deal is mate?

They could have had some kind of check to see it the server used any of the new objects if not the "stand-alones" can't join. And the "addons" should be able to join a stand-alone server...

How can`t they be your flying buddies if they don`t have AEP? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Unless they are flying buddies from "other" sims http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

As for topic, the way PF is being released is probably the best move busines wise. Think about what Oleg said... Eastern front aircraft...such as JU88, Pe-2 and others in development will be applied to AEP/PF combo only http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif , while PTO will be updated ONLY with PTO planes

The thing is, community is there, absolute majority has IL2/FB/AEP.. and i hope newcommers will get with the program too http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

yellownet you crack me up man.

oleg is giving us TWO options. a combined and a standalone. both to be installed on your puter so you can join a combined game or just pf

he was contemplating keeping it a separate game.

would you just be happier if he didnt make the game at all?

i dont understand this sad face about the most exciting flight sim to hit shelves ever.

i guess if you hit the lottery for 50 million youll whine and complain when they take 24 million off the top for taxes too..... but i only get 26 million! ......sheesh

I'm certainly not sad http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Nor do I have any "flying buddies" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif So I really don't care, I just thought it would be better the "other" way...

It's very smart to have the combo install option, that way the new players brought in by PF will not be left out. Plus you know that once they try PF, they be buying FB gold anyway. The only losers in this scenario are the ones who stay behind w/ AEP.

Well...it wouldn't make any sense any other way. I mean, it'd be impossible to match gamestates with two entirely different sets of data. You'd need 6 months or more of creative programming to solve problems like that and make it run smoothly....if at all.

I had assumed all along that this would be the way. I'm not surprised by this at all. Frankly...nobody should be.

Some have recommended that you install two versions (PF and then PF+AEP) at a cost of hard drive space. I doubt I'll do this...I'm hoping the vast majority on HL will just be upgrading along with all of the servers and we'll continue along just like when AEP was released.

ummmhh ....

and exactly how did you think a standalone PF install was actually going to be able to connect to a server using eastern front maps and planes that PF does not have ? download all 2 Gb or whatever off the server online ??

Two installs for me http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Agreed 200% BuzzU.

2 installation options for all needs, a full and the addon option. What else do you want?

It's the best way to not divide the community, as most of the people flying here have AEP and will do the combined install anyway.
And since there will be pure PF servers, that you can join with the second installation, you're really complaining about nothing? Or what exactly is your problem!?

It would have been far easier for the team to make this a standalone product but no they gave us the great option of being able to install on top of IL-2:FB but still people complain! I'll do a double install no problems there and be glad that I was given the ability to do so!

Wow!

I guess you just can't please some people...

One thing to think about is, crazy critism like this serves to diminish legitimit critism. People have a hard time telling the difference so much of the time all critism gets lumped together... THAT is sad

Obviously FB/AEP/PF can't host for PF, but I thought the other way round would be possible, and so was stated? I might be wrong.

Not an issue anway, let's be realistic: regular onliners will ALL have the combined version.

I dont see what the problem is.... I will do the single install over FB.. most of the people I know already have FB2.04 so why bother with the standalone version at all. AFAIC it would more or less push the rest of the community to get 2.04.. which is how it should be. For 1C to survive they need to make money ion this stuff. if we had to actually put a dollar value on the thrill factor we would be paying much more. There are guys who pa to play a product that is inferior to this one... monthly.. yet we pop out the initial fee and we have this. Its a no brainer for me..
