Hooray for E-bay!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

Joined E-bay last week and had my first purchase:
"Breaching the dam" by Nicholas Trudgian for less than 200! i have never seen this for less than 495! Well pleased http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

It will look very nice in my living room next to my others:

Mustang Mayhem

Duxford Eagles

Alpine Thunder

Duel In The Desert

All by Nicholas Trudgian

Also in my collection:

Dallas Doll by Phillip West

Little Friends by Simon Smith

Spitfire over St.Michaels Mount by Robert Taylor

I have these all around my living room

There must be other collectors on here.(With understanding wives/partners too!)

Beautiful! I have a framed painting, "High Flight" by Ron Blackburn in my bedroom here. Very nice to have a Spitfire as a final thought before nodding off to sleep http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I've got a few.

"Dallas Doll" and "Gustav"!

Also have "Pappy". Still need to have this one framed.

My next one will be "On the Prowl" by Philip West.

I keep everything in my "War Room". This is the only part of the house that is truly mine. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Also some photos I colleted.

Well for a collector you just might want to see this site. Probably you know it already but here´s the link anyway. I stopped by the Luftwaffe page but there are plenty of various nationalities aviators there. Just look around. (Take a look at the price of the Red Baron pic http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif )

And Don Gentile with John Godfrey

I'm not a collector yet but I would like to buy one or two prints at some point. Any suggestions for the newbie aviation art collector?

I have no partners to agree or disagree with me so I guess thats a bonus...

Well as you can see I prefer the work of Nicholas Trudgian above all others but thats just my personal taste.I like his clarity, attention to detail and the fact that he invariably paints a fantastic background as well.He has been described as a landscape artist who also paints aircraft. Jolly nice chap as well.i met him a couple of years ago at Duxford.

Robert Taylors work is also first class but tends to command a higher price.

William S. phillips paints some marvelous scenes but again the price is higher. I came very close to buying his print "On wings and a prayer"

But the Mrs had a last minute change of mind. If I get the opportunity again I won't hesitate.

My advice is try and choose limited editions, preferably signed (all the Nicholas Trudgian prints I have are personally signed by pilots and aircrew) that will increase in value.(Its an excellent excuse to justify the purchase if "she who must be obeyed" starts to protest! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif)

But above all get what you like personally.

I like that Gustav painting. I have seen it on various sites but the Mrs vetoed it. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/crackwhip.gif
But by giving in that one I got "Duxford eagles" for my 40th birthday so I class that as a tactical victory. She is a formidable but worthy foe!

I have a few pieces of aviation art, my favorite of which is "Test of Time" by Mark Postlethwaite. It was a limited edition print made for the Empire Test Pilot school. Signed by the artist and 2 RAF pilots. I wish it was framed so I could show you, but if you all collect air art them you've likely seen this already, if not here is a not so great picture.

As it also happens, I am having this tattooed on me as I love this picture.

These I have on my walls, among others...These are not pics of the actual framed paintings/lithographs on my walls, as I don't have a camera at the moment to take pics of them....but these are pics of the lithographs from catalogues etc... For the others which I have on my walls, I cannot find a catalogue picture.

"The Old Hand" Artist is Jim Dietz (UBI forum member and Flight Sim activist)

"Tough Day"Artist James Dietz

"NightHawks" Artist Jim Dietz

I want to find this one by Jim Dietz...it's sold out, so I'll need to find it on EBay or somewhere else as a re-sale. I've been looking for about two years:
"To the Victor"

I'm after this:

And especially this:

In January, I was at RAAF Pearce and saw it in the office, I nearly went mad http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

I would also like James Deitz's 'Circus Rolls at Dawn', that's an amazing piece of art.
