And Ford wonders why they can't sell cars? Let's not forget the endless list of factory recalls issued by Ford.

My wife's ford focus did the same exact thing but I managed to get the key out by turning the steering wheel from one extreme to another while working the key out. I was peed-off too.

That's a common problem, I actually carry an ignition cylinder for that car on my truck. As near as I can tell, it's a design flaw, the lock just chews itself up. In 22 years in the buisness I've never seen an auto manufacturer pay for the repairs on a lock problem (and there have been many).

Well, on a positive note, at least it should deter car-thieves!

Back in the 80's my Capri was opened and the tapedeck lifted. During a conversation with the police, one of them got the key from their Ford Escort and showed me how easy it was to get in. Like - insert key, turn and open!

That was my last Ford.

I had an old Ford Fiesta (well, it was 1989 manufacture) until last year. It had five seperate keys. One for each lock.

I felt like a caretaker, wandering around with all my housekeys, lockerkeys, bikekeys, bottle openers, and five car-keys clipped to my belt-loops... people could recognise me unseen by the jangling of keys!

The dealer can pull the key cycles from the computer to verify you don't have a hobby of sitting in the car turning it on/off.
