Actually, he stopped over in Italy for a while to do some shopping and spent the night in a brothel...

I like the fact it's based in Cyprus. At the end of the main game with Desmond's eagle vision, I think you can see the port of Cyprus on the floor in blood. The concept art for this can be found at conceptart.org (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=102345)
