View Full Version : New Eastern Front map for IL-2 FB/AEP+Pacific Fighters merged install.

12-03-2004, 02:32 AM

- Autumn and Winter maps
- New ground textures
- Winter map with "just snowed" look - dark forests, cleared (summer) runways etc.
- Wide range of new bases from huge grass runways with extensive dispersals to single cleared strips for emergency or resupply use to tiny little dirt track strips for Po-2/Fi-156.
- Very realistic - all actual bases included with unique features at each. Every lighthouse and railway line in correct position.

WiP - very detailed campaign system (at least 8 "chapters") with correct player aircraft flying from the correct bases etc.

As to "when?" - the maps will go to Maddox Games for inclusion this weekend but they need to be integrated into the game engine. The maps (incl. Murmansk) will be released for free.

12-03-2004, 04:04 AM
Ivan if you have much traffic to spend I'd be pleased if you could upload it as well. I only have a Gig traffic a month and I fear this one will suck up a lot of it.

12-03-2004, 04:06 AM
Ivan please upload it and please complete the translation ....

It will be included in a future patch release.

I have no idea how much work is involved from Oleg's side to incorporate maps - it would be really good to have them in the next patch though.

Not too much, I think.

Fantastic news. I'm sure everyone is very appreciative of all your very talented work.

Best regards,

This might be a bit of a stupid question but how big are the chances of us seeing some more western european maps? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I would love a map with the netherlands on it, I am dutch http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif What I understand from various posts on forums is that it is a lot of work to make maps, I would think its even more work with a map that has loads of cities on it and north western europe is/was very densily populated. So if you think its to much work I'd understand.

So we all get it all (map/campaign/skins) with one of the upcoming PF patches?

This sounds great!

BTW a propos patch.. When should the 3.02 final patch be out? And does it come with the new flyables/maps/AI planes and more US/IJN ships then?

Salute Ian

Great stuff. Glad to hear you are developing more maps.

You were asked on a SimHQ thread for some other maps, most of which you ruled out.

Here are my suggestions for maps which will not conflict with BoB:

1) Ploesti

This would allow an expanded Rumanian/German campaign, as well as a US 15th Air Force campaign.

2) Dutch Coast with or without Norfolk. (put an 'island' in if no Norfolk. This was a high combat area throughout the war, and shouldn't interfere with BoB. This area would work for Beaufighters, 8th Air Force, etc.

3) Ruhr Valley, or Silesia.

These have the disadvantage of a LOT of ground objects, ie. houses, but obviously they would work for an 8th Air Force campaign.

4) Corsica and Italian Northern Coast.

This would allow for an Italian campaign in '44, with USAAF FighterBombers etc. operating out of Corsica to attack Italy.

ian, still waiting for that e-mail bud... hurry hurry lol

12-04-2004, 01:24 AM
Looks great from the littlebit we can see ianboys,

I wonder if they will make the map program available to us all ever someday.

there are alot of mesh and map makers from cfs and fs series here that would quickly learn the dev process

More interesting maps are definatly needed to keep this game alive.

thx again for the work you put into the creation of this map, alot of people dont realize how time cosuming it is.

Hi ianboys. Just wondering, what is this mapping program like. I dont think that i will 'invest' in it, just wondering about the interfaces.
