Non disclosure contract dude. We can't talk about it. You'll just have to wait patiently like everyone else.

That guy Kegetsy hacked the sim some patch versions before 4.07 and could therefore change the game's code, its nothing official, nor will we ever have official 6dof support in IL2, the cockpits simply arent made for that.

Yep, watch the videos and you'll see a gunsight reticle displayed on the instrument panel, see-through gaps and other little problems. This is because 6DOF was not around when Il2 was coded and many of the cockpits and planes were designed. This is a hack, a well done hack, but certainly not official and never will be. I expect the upcoming SoW:BoB will fully support 6DOF.

If Oleg's team implemented it you'd only get pages of complaints about see-through panels and misaligned gunsights; I'm sure.

Fantastic! I WANT BUY THATH!!PLS! IL-2 series still the best sim all times, maybe Oleg wanth do this only to next sim (SOW), but of course all will buy SOW, so Oleg sell this, dont let in hacker hands or this can go to pirance, sell this 6DOF now and all will be very happy and you will get $$ and we can wait for SOW in happiness .
I have all IL-2 coletion 5 cds/2 dvd(404/407)and with 3DOF i will buy another DVD with a big smile.

It's the end of il2.. time to give some, at list a minimum of 6dof, it is possible to enable it with a minimum of movements with out giving up the 3 d models there is no doubt about that. The one who say that it will destroy the 3 d models and see through panels it is just ignorance of the track ir possibilities and a good code setup and placement box. Period.

Im still getting use to TIR4 with only pitch and yaw. I couldnt image 6DOF!

Enh! Like he isn't use to that already for every other aspect of the game! What is one more? The PROS far outweigh the CONS IMHO! But if the complaints is an issue, it would be NO PROBLEM to make it an un-documented feature that you would have to enable via manually editing the config.ini file.. Like he has done in the past for other un-documented features.

Granted most of the cockpit art work is not up to 6DOF standards, and there will be cases of the SIDES of things not being there.. but IMHO the PROS of being able to move your head around like a real pilot could far outweighs the CONS of being super glued to the chair and pretending to be Linda Blair

But a good one that shows IL2 could easily enable 6DOF!

Sad but true.

If it don't, I wont buy it! 6DOF is the new standard for all future flight sims!

A big problem with cockpits and 6DOF and this sim is that the cockpits incoporate 2D and 3D elements, and they need to be 'fixed' in place to make the illusion work properly

It is HUGELY and I should think overwhelmingly proabable that SoW:BoB will allow 6DOF support. I would like to quote Oleg on this but I cannot find the quote that I beleive he used about it

Not and inside source, or anything, but I'm 100% sure that BoB will be 6d0f-compliant.

Geez, it'd be nice to have a slight amount of head movement in Il-2, though. Just enough to see around cockpit bars.

yep BoB will be 100% 6DOF compatible. It was shown in some vids. I didn't realize how great would be to have 6DOF until I've seen those PF testing vids. And as I see I have 6 month delay http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I realised it even before the first release of the first 6DOF sim.. Where as Stigler, even after the release of these videos has yet to realise/admit it

If you've ever tried FS2004 and 6DOF, you'll never want to fly without it. The problem with FS2004 is that you can stick your head through solid objects like the canopy or the fuselage. That being said, I still won't download or fly anything in FS2004 that does not have a functioning 3D cockpit and when flying IL2 I find myself leaning around trying to look around windscreen and canopy braces.

I suspect thet getting used to 6DOF aiming and target aquiring will take some time. With the reticule not lining up consistantly on these videos I think it would be a bad idea.

While it sure looks amazing I feel it would be a mistake to release this for IL-2.

Anyone who's tried it on BoB:WoV knows it takes a bit of getting used to, and I believe I read where the developers are still perfecting the implimentation of 6DoF.

Why add something that will only be more difficult for a great amount of users? Perfect it for SoW:BoB and then release it.

Has anyone made a utility to take the TIR Z axis (moving head forward and backward) and translate it to keystrokes? If you could, then you could zoom and unzoom just by my moving your head forward and back.

I know they made a utility to convert X and Y to keyboard (trackmapper I think) but we need the Z in order to assign the 10 or so zoom keys.

I posted on the Naturalpoint forums and their reps just keep telling me that there is an option for emulating a mouse in programs that are not coded to work with TrackIR. I can't get it through to them that I want a program that translates all 6DOF to zones that send keystrokes based on where your head is.

This would open up all games to be used with TrackIR. I just wish I knew C++ because they have a TrackIR SDK that they claim is easy to use. I also emailed the guy that made Trackmapper but I don't expect a response...I think trackmapper was written years ago when there was only 2 DOF.

Yep...that's the 2004 program and he is the one I emailed. Trackmapper appears to work but only for 2 DOF. If someone knows someone with the C++ skills to use the TrackIR SDK to create a program to convert all 6 DOF to keystrokes then imagine how cool it would be.

Any game could benefit immensely but I not only can't get those that can make a difference involved...I can't even find any threads of anyone else trying to make this happen.

Am I missing something here?

Probably not going to happen on our end of things.

1 - There can be issues with more than 1 application trying to use the TrackIR at the same time

2 - Access to the TrackIR SDK is tightly controlled, as there is proprietary information contained within it.

and on a side note - SOW will have 6DOF support...................

Well this is all great news http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif The fact that BoB:WoV and CFS2004 support 6DOF is enough for me to know that Oleg would be a fool not to include it's support for SoW!

That with widescreen support (which i'm certain will also be included) and we have the makings of another great series, and just in time because I just bought TrackIR4 yesterday http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif
