I bought a CH yoke just for the Ju 88 earlier this year. I really enjoy force-feedback, so the absolutely smooth, non-FF CH yoke was strange to use. Found adjusting to the yoke after a stick difficult, but that should not dissuade. If you want to fly the bombers, it is the way to go. As for improving control---I am so used to a stick I found it actually lessened my control. I would advise it as primarily an "immersion" device.

Like leitmotiv I'm used to a joystick though after a bit of practice I can use both to the same level of mediocrity online http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif I like to use the yoke for a little added immersion so use it for the P-38 and of course bombers. I have a script now in my CH HOTAS profile so I can load one profile that includes my Fighterstick, Yoke, Throttle Quadrant, Pro Throttle, Pro Pedals and DT225 Trackball and then choose later if I want to use the yoke or the stick by pressing a button on my stick to switch the X and Y axis from the Yoke to the stick and back, this can be done on the fly and done without having to loadin a new profile or change any settings in IL-2.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Thanks for the tips, Revvin_UK! I got the throttle quadrant, too (mainly for RAF night bombers in FS9!).

The Throttle Quadrant is really useful for the FS series as it supports so many analogue axis controls, and if you run out you can plug in more than one TQ and have an 12 or more lever setup http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Although IL-2 only supports a few analogue controls I find it useful to have things like landing gear, landing hook etc mapped to the levers so I have a visual reference as to their state - handy when you're on final to the CV and you have that nagging doubt that you forgot to lower your landing gear or hook http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

CH Flight Yoke is what I use for ALL aircraft; I don't own a decent joystick. I dogfight fairly capably in an Oscar or Lightning with it, and to me it does add to the immmersion factor when I can look down in the 'pit and see the yoke in the Betty respond just like the one in front of me.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

And I have CH F-stik,rud ped,pro throt, and yolk,I've never used.I know the stik, ped, throt will 'daisy chain' together;does the yolk have to be plugged/unplugged upon use,or can it somehow fit in the 'loop'? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

You will need a separate gameport for the Yoke<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

A squadmate of mine flew everything with a yoke, I never realised until we talked about controllers one day.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

No problem, BTW I'm just curious as to why you're going with Win98 as a gaming platform? You can get Win XP drivers for the gameport gear at my CH Hangar site here (http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2624) and also CH Products site here (http://www.chproducts.com/retail/tech_chanlg.html). These will allow you to use your gameport gear as normal DirectX devices but you will not be able to program them as the Gameport programming software 'Speedkeys' does not work in Win98 as Microsoft in their infinite wisdom decided to stop the keyboard port being used in that way as they said it was a possible security hole - however you will be able to map commands in IL-2's control setup. You may find soon that games will stop supporting anything less than WinXP.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I was trying to slim down my 'system resources',i.e. run a strip down OS,and 98 was all I had in that dept.
My copy of XP is a preload on a package deal comp system,so it's LOADED with peripheral c**p.I've tried stripping it all out several times, and it makes it too unstable and glitchy.

I have a friend that works IT who could probably procure "at a reasonable price",cough, cough a copy of XP Pro.

I knew about the future compatability issues w/ 98,I was just going to hope for the best.
Thanks,again.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
