Hi I have had IL-2 for about 6 months and in that time have mostly done low level turning dogfights. I am going into a LAN competition on IL-2 for my school and I would like to find out as much information about how to get the best performance in Spitfire Vb's and P-40's

vb's. for high alt u want vb with full wings, and no LF (LF had cropped supercharger, big increase in power at low alt, woeful at high alt)

p40, keep to low-medium alts

100% prop pitch and full power will make u go as fast as possible. p40 has all axis trim, is nice use it.

btw, the vb is pretty mediocure aircraft, so is p40 according to books, but does well here

I don't know what type you'll be flying against, but you need to practice fighting up there before your match. It's way different than low alt combat. You have to be very light on the controls. Also, in dives you will lose a lot more alt then at lower levels. If you spin your plane you will lose thousands of feet before you recover. That means you'll be totally out of the fight. Make sure to keep your speed up as much as possible. No hard turns.

P-40M is the best curtiss at "higher" altitude.
i think you talking about 6000m , not higher http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

you should try to download the last IL2compare programm . that would give you a nice comparison about the performance charachteristicas of the planes.
im sure someone will post a link - a helpfull little programm.

Basicly you shouldn`t exceed 3500m at all in those planes.Performance drops quickly then.

One can think the P40 will win it all with you turning geniuses.

FYI the Vb owns P40 like no other.
