Yough Bear congratulations . We knew you would come around. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Well, when I first bought FB in April I tried flying each plane at least once, but mainly spent the first few months experimenting and finding undocumented features inside FMB, especially AI behavior, which reveals hidden things that are useful in making a dynamic campaign (ha my dream anyway). Since I spent most of my FB time external viewing the AI, I never could figure out what all the ubi whining was about.

I still can't fly and I shoot even worse though. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif In fact I never tried CEM until last month. Its as much an eye opener as the FMB is to Forgotten Bear.

I use it most of the time to make myself some more complex trainings missions wich aren't possible with the QMB. Lately, I made a mission for perfecting my skip-bombing technique's in a P-47. And I've got a mission with several balloons to shoot at in my TB-3. as well some german target drones, looking like 109's http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

ye shall be judged: and with what
measure ye mete, it shall be measured

I gave up on it months ago with a lot of frustration. I enjoy downloading the singles from Mudmovers but I would like to see some interesting campaigns. Threads like this give me hope to try again, some long day http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I use it nearly exclusively! I can't even count the hours I've spent with it makeing complex missions, getting the timing and flight paths and speeds correct for take off and landing with the AI so we can fly with them and have the whole orchastra come together in the end. It' salot of fun to watch it in the FMB then to go fly it and take second seat to a AI so you can stay intune with the timing. I usually make them all coops , and then play them with my Squad.

The only thing I really dislike about it is when we get a patch and the FM change it can really screw up a good mission. And most if not all of mine are fragged now. With no time here lately to fix them if I can. I usaualy just tos them away. Another thing I lack is the Imagination of creating a good Breifing that sounds nastalgic, and believable. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Stick with it Arcadeace. Look at the guides off Mudmovers and ask the community for help. They are very good and helped me immensely

It only funny 'til someone loses an eye.........

You can also use FMB to fix problems with missions generated by the DCG, like being strafed on the runway at starup or missing the enemy entirely when they pack up and go home before you arrive. I'm sure one day I'll start up a mission and get a message; "You're airbase was bombed last night when you were asleep. You were killed."! Seriously though, mission modification is a good way to start in FMB just to see how everything works.

I am always trying to get friends and anyone else interested addicted to FB. An easy way is to set up a mission they request. Give them what they want and let the sim sell itself. It works.

I had alot of of help from my friend down-under, Stiaan. Someone with experience who is willing to help can have you creating cool missions in a matter of minutes. More complicated mission building, and campaigns take more time, and by the time that I am to taking on the challenge, there will be BoB.

Creating very complicated missions with minimal effort can be accomplished using Uberdemon's software, and is well worth the free download.

I used the FMB extensively in IL2, I created a Stuka campaign with once, and used to make other missions often. When FB came out, I slowed down to hardly ever using it, mainly because my previous missions became useless with each new patch. I suppose they could be re-tweaked to work, but I don't have much time to do that.

But it's very powerful, and not really tough once you get into it.

I use it extensively. If you are used to Microsoft programs, then this utility is completely NOT intuitive, but one you get the hang of it, it's fairly simple...

A great utility, that I love for online, is UQMG. Cause the FMB can be a total pain to make quick changes with in contrast. When I used to make changes to FMB missions, I'd have everyone on comms and be saying, 'almost done..' or 'just two more minutes,' but the FMB can be a lot of fun, although very time consuming...

Used to build plenty of missions in IL-2, but the FMB has taken a nose dive in function and form. Occasionally crashes or locks up, all data lost, so have to save often. Why its still stuck in the stone ages and one has to manually change each blue assigned object to red or the other way around is bizzare in the least, try doing about 50 objects, that's over one hour wasted. Why a selected object like a balloon can't remain red until I finish placing and switch objects hasn't been implemented yet is criminal.

Yes @ first I thought this was hard but I read for 1 hour @ someone help sight & poof Im a map making fool.

I love to make maps with 2 bases for each team & put plenty of static tanks ac & trucks on key locations. but I spred them out far enough so they dont make video frame rate loss. it took a while to perfect this but I have it down now

I also add secret hidden static convoys on roads & trains on tracks Some people are smart enough to find them & rack up bonus bucks for bombing them....

Ya baby theres nothing like a good DF/jabo map

It's the only way to go!
If your having problems get started, there is a couple of great sites to help you out. Eastern Skies is one that I used and Mud Movers.
And also a fair amount of people right here in the forum, who are always helpful with quesions.

I find the FMB simple enough to use. But, it makes many comon tasks very tedious and time consuming. I think it would be much better if they made it into a stand alone windows app that used modern UI widgets to make the UI much more powerful. You know add things like toolbars, drag and drop, copy and paste, templates, keyboard shortcuts, etc. Plus you since you wouldn't run it full screen you could run other helper apps side by side and copy paste between apps.

The other thing that would be really nice is some way of setting up missions that wouldn't be so time based and dependent on the flight models so that missions wouldn't break or take as much time to fine tune.

Between the FMB and UDQMG I dont even do QMs anymore.
