I have edited the post to include Single Player vids exclusive to IGN. It's sad how they won't be uploaded to the official AC youtube.

Oh, and can we move discussion about this kind of stuff into my Ottoman Assassins Secrets topic? Seeing as I'm going to be posting all IGN links there, I sort of want to keep it as a sort of compilation.

I was only trying to prove which side the hookblade was on tbh, not the rest. In fact, now that I've looked more closely it does indeed seem to be an entire eagle head, not just the beak.

As for the sign, I'd say it's too early to tell whether or not it's the sign for the hookblade. There could be any number of alternative explanations for why he's not wearing any hidden blades while there is this icon for a hidden blade with an eagle.
The eagle might even mean that his hidden blades are undergoing modifications in one of the Assassin dens and are currently unavailable because of it.

While that does sound logical, I doubt they will implement a degradation system for weapons. If they do, some players may find it more of a chore than a good feature.

I was more referring to repairing his hidden blade(s) and adding the hook. More of a temporary story related thing than an actual feature.

Oh, sorry, I misread your post as repairs instead of modifications. In the game it looked Yusuf just hands Ezio a hidden blade. I think that would be a more of an in-game cutscene doctored to look like a trailer, but who knows, maybe those scenes were made for these Ottoman Assassin diaries.

Can't wait for the next episode either.

Good point. Oh well, I was just speculating a bit really.

That must kinda suck. Though it's certainly not as bad as with previous AC games. I guess it must be quite a hassle for them to get the game ready for PC besides the consoles since they really seem to have tried to get it done on the same date this time.

Yea, but I can wait for the game. I honestly don't mind spoilers.

There is a secret of the Ottoman Assassins that I'm interested in though. According the AC: Brotherhood and Project Legacy, the guild in Constantinople, while initially founded in the middle of the 13th century, was founded in the early 16th century when Assassin recruits were sent to Constantinople. Now, was there already a guild of Ottoman Assassins there? Or did they learn about the new guild founded by the Roman/Italian Assassins and then went there? Or had the current Constantinople guild been in existence for less than a decade, and they recruited many Ottomans and made many discoveries?

I think the most likely one is that when the Italian Assassins set up a guild in Constantinople that the Ottoman Assassins retrieved word and joined them.

I like it better too. I think it fits the Black Room. ACR seems to be more serious, but at the same time have more light moments than ACB and AC1.

while the new healthbar is cool, I liked the old one better, I liked the design of the old one better. It was a constant reminder that we're IN his DNA.

Oh, and I actually have a good reason to search the chests!

@Lightrey: I'm loving these videos to, the characters are actually breaking down how they work, and Yusuf's voice sounds pretty sweet.

No, they tried to set one up, but it wouldn't take, so they left it alone for a while until Ezio was finally able to plant one down.

Oh, and last time, wasn't the game for PC released late to include a DRM?

The original Constantinople guild was wiped out in the Constantinople riots.

I think that when Ezio made his guild, tons of locals who had been fighting the Templars in their own way and using the equipment availible in constantinople at the time. (Greek fire, bombs) They were then recruited into Ezio's order.

I knew that the guild set up in 1257 was disbanded, mostly because they couldn't get enough members.

But I'm still wondering if the guild Tazim leads has been around for longer than when the recruits came to Constantinople, or if the recruits built it and recruited people, including Tazim. Or maybe there were already a group of Ottoman Assassins, but their HQ was stationed somewhere else and then decided to join the new guild in Constantinople.

[SPOILERS - THE SECRET CRUSADE]

maybe Niccol˛ and Maffeo Polo had success where Altair didn't, Niccol˛ said in the book that he thought that one of the reasons Altair invited them was because they lived in Constantinople during that time, the only place where Altair failed to create an Assassin guild...

EDIT:
taken from wiki:

"In the year 1257, the explorers Niccol˛ and Maffeo Polo were invited by Alta´r's son Darim to the Assassins' headquarters of Masyaf to meet Alta´r. Alta´r explained to the explorers that he wanted them to return to their hometown of Constantinople and form a guild there, and in Italy. The explorers travelled to Constantinople, hiding the five seals Alta´r had given them throughout the city and formed an Assassins Guild."

I knew about the stuff from Th Secret Crusade, but I thought that the Polo's guild failed in the book, and that Sophia Sorto now owns the previous facade for the guild?

And what about the Assassins that went to Constantinople on Ezio's ordes to set up a guild?

I don't remember one of the contracts in Constantinople talking about creating a guild there and I don't have ACB installed now to check but you might be right, in 250 years anything could've happened, I was just correcting you and Calvarok because you said that the guild was disbanded in 1257, when in fact, it was created that year and there was no "original" guild before that year because Altair failed to create one in 1204 (due to the riots)...

There's a mission in Brotherhood that basically asks us to steal the maps of Piri Reis. If there was an Ottoman assassin's guild, then they would have handled that mission over us sending people out to do it.

Then again...since Revelations says that Piri Reis is not just an assassin, but a master assassin, I don't get why we stole something from our own order?

There was one mission in Constantinople where you had to eliminate spies and place your people instead of them. I can clearly remember it included the formation of a guild there. Does anyone else remembers it?

I believe this is what you are looking for "Upon the removal of Ferdinand's spies, we are able to send in several of our own to replace them. These men had no friends among the refugees, no stories to tell due to the risks. Our Brothers will assume their identities and work to establish a guild here"

Yup when King Ferdinand kicked the Jews I believe out of Portugal, Sultan Beyzeid took them in as Refugees because they would strengthen and benefit the Community, so Ferdinand creates Spies by Bribing them with Luxuries, Ezio`s Assassins quickly dispatch of them and take their place and so are instructed to form a Guild in Constantinople.
I guess this proves that there was no other Guild in Constantinople at that time, seeing as if there was one Ezio would`ve instructed his team to get in Contact with the already established Guild instead of completely creating a New one..

maybe Ezio wasn't aware of the existence of an assassin guild in Constantinople, like it was explained in this interview (see link below), Ezio was the Mentor of the assassin order in Italy and not in other countries...

Grand Master controversy
- The title The Mentor in the past applied to any Assassin who reached above Master Assassin level and achieved an extraordinary level of skill and wisdom to teach future generations of assassins.
- Communication between 2 different countries was a problem
- There were different assassin orders in other countries because it is an ancient order like the Templars' order
- The title of Mentor in Ezio's lifetime is for the Italian order
- By the 20th century, THE Mentor is the official title among the whole Assassin Order since communication has improved drastically

I don't think there was a guild in Constantinople, but I think there may of been a group of Ottoman Assassins that resided elsewhere then decided to join to Constantinople Guild after they heard the Roman Assassins founded one.

I believe Ubisoft would find this completely unnecessary, I mean its a side Story all by it self, which makes no contribution to the Main story of the Guild, Im going with this:
Altair tried to create one in Istanbul but fled due to the Riots, then the Polos failed as well and instead created one in italy and then Ezio led his Team into making a Guild There.
Simple,Understandable and Mystic you know ? perhaps part of a Grand Plan ?

I am still wondering about the Ottoman Assassins though. Yusuf says that he has been using the hookblade since his youth. Is Yusuf in his late 20s or have the Ottoman Assassins been around longer than the Roman Assassins set the guild up?

I am now 99% sure that the Ottoman Assassins joined up with the Constantinople Guild after it's creation by the Romans.

Just about to post this myself. I was also going to mention Piri Reis another local was a Master Assassin and he was born in 1468.

So I've got a little theory of sorts, I propose the following. Up until 1503 The Assassins Order itself in Europe were quite decentralised and split. The Italian Assassins were separate they had no real base of operations. Monterrigioni was a base of sorts for the Auditore not the Assassins as a whole they met there but it wasn't a proper Assassin location like Tiber Island. Up until Ezios arrival in Rome there are only three meetings of the Assassins together, Ezios induction, the meeting before the attempt on Rodrigo and after at Monterrigioni. The training of Assassins during this period seems to fall to Family assuming that was Giovannis plan for his sons. Ezio mostly trains with his Uncle and picks up other things from other members but its not in an ordered manner. Not to mention Ezio is the one focusing on the Templars, why send the rookie when they could have pooled there resources and dealt with the threat in a more prompt manner. A comment from Antonio to Ezio sticks with me here ôYou may not share our motive, but you do share our goalö.

In 1500's this all changes, they have a base of operations in Rome the centre of Geographic Italy. They start recruiting Citizens and train them formally within the guild on Tiber Island. Ezio sends these recruits and Assassins throughout Europe to do missions, when logically the assassins in those areas should be the ones doing it. Ezio creates a Centralized Assassins Guild in Italy completely different from before and the Constantinople Guild is created based on that foundation and the Ottoman Assassins join it. I believe Europe as a whole was like the Assassins Order in Italy before the 1500's. Ezio establishes a proper centralized guild which is starting to spread elsewhere. So in the Ottoman Empire, there were assassins just not united and Ezio changes this.

This is all theory of course.

Well there was an Assassin Guild in Spain, but it was disbanded in 1498.

There was also an Assassin's Guild in Calicut, India.

Before 1503, I'm fairly sure.

Yes, but the Spanish Guild didn't seem to be able to project power like the Roman one can. Little information came out of it and of course its now destroyed.

As for india, didn't really include it as we know little outside Europe and we know very little about this guild

OR, Yusuf got the hookblade as an unaffiliated member of some sort of resistance led by Piri Reis, and when the Assassin's set up their guild, he joined and quickly rose to the top, bringing Piri with him.

Where exactly would they have gotten the technology for the hidden blade from?

Since when have Assassins used the hookblade throughout history? If that was true we would of seen uses of it before.

The Hidden blade wasn't even made until around the 4th century.

EDIT: Actually it was the early 5th century BC. sorry.

so thats still about a 1000 years of history and all someone would have to do is attach a hook to the blade

If that ever happens, Ubisoft will be sued and forced to stop assassin's creed because of all the poorly made hookblades snapping when people try to parkour with them, or all the stab wounds from when people try to grab other people with them and flip over them. : (

I don't think we saw what assassins use in the field during The Fall.

I think that the writers and artist were told to work around showing how Assassins have advanced, at least in regards to modern ones, so they don't write the game devs into a hole, or vice versa.

We've been told that when an assassin is almost a master assassin, you can go on a mission with them, tailored to their own story.

Jexx21
10-08-2011, 10:57 PM
Yea. I think there will only be a certain amount of missions though. There'll probably be 12 of them to fill out your basic 12 slots, and once you play all 12 missions they just choose one at random.

Once one of the recruits become a Master Assassin do they leave our roster? I'm confused on that part.

That would be annoying. I don't want to run around the city looking for recruits only to have 2/3 of them turning me down after I help them. Their individual joining speeches/exchanges could be a little more in-depth, though. Not just "oh thank you stranger, I'm going to dedicate my life to you from now on without question". Maybe the potential recruit could be more inquisitive about Ezio, like "how do I know I can trust you?" or "what's in it for me?".

The idea of the recruits helping you is that they've been nearby on the mission with you the whole time. Not that they actually teleport in from wherever.

And you can use it at any time because the animus allows you to do illogical things, like travelling from veince to florence 1000000000 times in one year of in-game time.

Because it's blocked at home. I know, it's the inverse of most situations, being unable to access it at home and instead only using it at school.

As for the IGN player, I tried that too but it gave me the blank white area that typically pops up if an embedded video involves a blocked website, so it seems IGN just piggybacks off youtube.

I think the "Secrets" trailers are done. Now that the Den Defense is out all the new features have been covered. So, there is no real need for them. But there is still the launch trailer to come.

sorry, I just get annoyed when people seem 'overexcited'.

I mean, you don't need to run around posting that your gonna stab someone with your hidden blade all the time. (and I've seen that before)

If you are excited, then you should go ahead and act excited if you really want to.

Luckily, I am no longer hyped for ACR. The wait will feel much shorter.

True that! I mean, just like 2 weeks to go and bam! We have it in our hands! So you're gonna shoot someone and take they're game? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Vidic's new look provides more evidence for my ''Everyone Has a Beard in The Future'' Theory (E HABIT F). Lets cross our fingers for Des waking up to Lucy sporting the Santa look http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Yeah, I kind of find it odd that they've made everyone who looks old have white hair. I wouldn't even say they could make white hair look real.

Lol, I see now. Well, Jexx21, it's not far off until we finally get the game in our hands. I'm replaying all the Assassin's Creed games so the story is with me. I'm on AC2 on Seq 5.

EDIT: Seq. 8 or 9, I believe.
