Alright...It seems like in singleplayer, I can get off the ground and do fairly well for myself...I don't have any major problems. Whenever I join any multiplayer game that is in the ocean, however, I encounter problems.

My max speed is around 200 kph...I'm told I need to trim, use the elevator...this is greek to me. As far as I have seen, none of this is discussed in the training videos. Any ideas?

200 kph is closer to landing speed than cruise speed!

it sounds like more than a trim problem, but for elevator trim look in your controls section from the main screen. In there, you will find a key combination to adjust elevator trim. You need to adjust it until the plane with fly straight with your hands off the stick.. you're trying to stop it from climbing or diving, you want it to fly level. I think the default keys for elevator trim up is ctrl-and the up arrow, but you better look to make sure.

I am wondering if another issue may be prop pitch. When this happens, what online server are you playing on and what plane are you flying?

Not faster than 200kph? eh..Raise the gear?

Using elevator trim will not make you fly faster. Rudder trim to center the ball can make a bit difference.

ARe you saying that offline you don't have this problem?

One possibility is that you have a key mapped that is altering your prop pitch or mixture but offline you are playing with full easy settings so it does not do anything. When you fly online Complex Engine Management might be turned on by the host in which case the problem occurs.

Keep an eye out for unexpected messages appearing on screen eg you press 'g' to raise the gear and it says 'Prop pitch 30%' http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Don't just look at the 'controls' file; actively reset the prop pitch to something you want it to be on. I had a problem recently where I mapped the number keys to the bomber crew positions but every time I selected the rear gunner it also changed the prop to about 20% which was kind of awkward at times http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Looking at the settings in 'Controls' showed the prop pitch was not mapped to that key but when I re-entered the prop-pitch keys the problem went away.

Hey Demonic,

Are you flying a Wildcat (F3F)on a pacific map? If so, then the landing gear may still be down.

Pressing 'G' will have no effect. You will need to assign keys to 'Raise Gear Manually' and 'Lower Gear Manually' in 'Controls'.

Once done, you will need to repeatedly press the key you have mapped to each until you see the 'Gear Raised' or 'Gear Lowered' message displayed.

HTH.

ok as a plane burns fuel its weight balance shifts, so as the plane gets lighter front end due to the fuel burning off in the wings or fwd fuselage, u end up pushing the stick fwd to keep the nose down, trimming it adjusts the tail surface to bring it all back into balance....now its flying level and not nose up it produces less drag so flys quicker...... thats is really basic in a nutshell, does that make sense?

I beg to differ. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif
Try it yourself. Point that nose down just a little, and tell me what you find. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

LOL sure

Point is that I don't have to use elevator trim to point the nose down just a little http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I like trim http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
Makes me, as being a lazy guy, comfortable so I don't have to counter ac funny ideas on topic "where should we go now".
He wants to go anywhere but straight and level.
Even with trim it's quite hard to accomplish.

But something near that is quite good actually. Pleasant to fly that way.
For combat it's of course inappropriate, new trim is needed.

Kuna, remember when I asked you "why doesn't the rudder trim on my 109 work?"

Will trim make you faster? Flying out of trim will make you slower!
