View Full Version : Weird throttle thing: is this supposed to happen?

with my throttle on the Saitek Cyborg 3D Gold, its range is only from 103% to 40%

this is a big problem (read: 262 explodes into fireball as soon as engines start up and go immediatly to 40%. Also, you can get an La-7 airborn from standstill on 40% throttle, so landing is a pain as well, i usually shut the engine down to land.)

I have calibrated and even 'trick calibrated (only moved throttle halfway to its lowest point)' over and over and to no avail.

How can I persuade my joystick that 0% is just as good as 40% when it comes to engine output??

Sounds like you have a defective joystick. My Cyborg works like a . . . peach.

Its your joystick...hers a thing to try.Keep calibrating the joystick...sometimes the full travel isnt seen and if you do it a couple of times it clears it up...otherwise clean the pot.I dont think its gonna help by cleaning but you can try an new pot...if not try to exchange it

why is it that I say "i calibrated it a million and a half times' and the major advice I get is 'calibrate it'

hmmm.

I hope it isn't defective. What the hell, i will be building a throttle quadrant soon, and if thats defective I can fix it.

I'll cope, landings aren't THAT hard . . . just switch the engine off pretty soon before you touch down. And it works even on full realism with a P-39 . . . if your good at it.

And, you know what? its done wonders for my ability to land after someone has shot my motor to hell.

If you've callibrated it that many times then I guess you'll have to go to plan B, Buy a new one.

Just a thought maybe your girlfriend/ wife/ boyfriend/ husband (delete as applicable) sabotaged it as way to get you a pay them a bit more attention?? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

sniper-690

Saitek gives 2 years warranty on the X45, there's probably the same with the cyborg gold.

I dunno how you got the stick but, return it to the store I think.

That's because we lost the patience to actually read, and just like to write stuff and try to sound helpful?

I seem to have some sort of problem with mine (tho I'm not entirely convinced its actually my joystick doing this), but its not permanent. As soon as I start the engine I hear it rev more than normal. Almost as if it didn't notice my throttle being at 0. I just increased it slightly then decrease it to 0 again and it stays that way.

The calibration process for this stick is a laugh (a MSFFB2 btw), and I had a painstaking nightmare when I per accident installed the sidewinder software. MS never ceases to amaze me, creating products that are not compatible with their own software.

Check the button under the stick, make sure it's on 'digital'. Had one of those a long time ago and that button causes similar behaviour iirc.

Train your muscles! I also could not move the throttle from my cyborg far enough untill I did some serious heavy weight lifting.

It may also be a driver issue, particularly if you're using an older Saitek driver. Only recently have Saitek been able to put together really good drivers for their sticks. Try asking your question at: http://oldsite.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boards/bbs/ultimatebb.php?ubb=forum;f=79 There are many helpful souls there who know all the ins and outs of Saitek configuration problems.

Of course it may still turn out to be broken hardware... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif
