After a lot of waiting, I'm finally working on it again. Of course it could be nicer, but I'm quit happy with my results since I'm far from being a professional with any tool.

First pic is the new panel with a few indicator lights and switches. Second pic is what will be throttle and prop pitch.

I only hope that we get mix controls some day.

PS- I got to test my home-brewed stick today. Its got a little slop side-to-side, but its still far better than my old X45 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Nice http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Good luck with the rest. Just one small queation. What does Mrs. BaldieJr. think about all this?

She thinks its funny. She rolls her eyes and laughs a lot, but she's never tried to stop the project from going onward. She's a keeper, be sure.

I'll get more flattering pics in a few weeks. I had just finished mounting the stick and didn't have time to clean up before leaving for work.

Its nice to have finally accomplished something http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Looks good Baldie. I like the way the keyboard can be pushed back under the panel. Also, the black knob on the left of the panel... is that a rotory axis?

12-position rotary switch for engine selection.

Hard to belive, but there are actually 12 different "Select Engine" states in FB http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Hunter82: which graphics? Switch lettering? I trashed what I had and started with a new panel.

I also trashed the guage graphics I was working on untill I know for sure I can afford the output interface needed (or small LCD).

I'm still a long ways from finishing, but its nice to be further into it.

The white plastic you see in the first pic is the control stick. I haven't painted it or mounted the handle. Maybe tomorrow.

That's too bad...the original graphics/lettering you had looked pretty cool.

Anyone else use a wheel mouse to scroll?

Try scrolling the 2nd picture up and down....http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'll be lettering the new panel the same way I did the old after the paint is on.

Balrog:

The LED's are a bit of smoke and mirrors. The switches I'm using are double-pole (two switches in one package). Part of the switch goes to the input board, the other goes to an LED. The trick to making it all work is in the programing. When a switch is turned on a script sends the proper keystroke once. When it is turned off it sends the keystroke again. While the switch is on the LED is lit. I'll also have a reset macro that will suspend keystrokes in case the LED's get out of sync with the game.

Eventually I'll find a way to set everything via devicelink, which will assure syncronization between game and switches. Maybe some C/C++ guru will offer to help get socket support into autohotkey http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif (www.autohotkey.com (http://www.autohotkey.com) <-- awesome open source scripting language for windows)

An idea I had for using multiple throttles is to make the knob on top of the throttle lever a button. Pressure on the knob would trigger the button, bound to an engine select key. You would just have to make sure you bumped the knob a bit before ajusting the throttle. The knob selector buttons would also have to switch the axis input from each lever to be the throttle axis in game.
It gets more complicated to lock the throttles, but I suppose a mechanical lever lock could incorporate a button bound to the select all engines. That way, the lever would be in the right spot when you selected an individual lever again.

Of course, I'm a lazy sod, so none of my ideas ever get set into motion. Its nice to see someone ambitious making a nice cockpit for himself.
