Man that Den Attack video has so much screen-tear and fps drops it's not even funny. Hope that actually due to the youtube upload, but who am I kidding?

well.. it's sample video given to EscoBlades, who then uploaded it to YouTube. There could of been a number of problems with transferring all the data to both EscoBlades and Youtube, not to mention this is probably console footage.

It'll probably play much smoother on the PC.

Den Defense seems to be turning this into a strategic third-person shooter game....

Fml.

No. It's turning it into a Tower Defense game. That one little part, that isn't turning anything into anything.

It's just a minigame and it's optional.

Indeed. I don't understand why people make a fuss of it...

Also, glad to see the Full Syncronization feature is indeed back; One more thing I don't understand why people dislike.

To not do Den Defense:

A. Do not defend. Once Templars storm the den, take the den back.

B. Get a Master Assassin. Assign the Master Assassin to lead the Assassins of that Den in your place.

Well I am aware it will play smooth on the PC but all 3 versions should get the same treatment.

I've never experienced any screen tearing on the Xbox 360.

The game played fine on the console versions i have previewed. The video quality we received was not that great. simple as that really.

Is the masked assassin in the top image and video a character in the game or just a random assassin?

The AC games have always been known to have bad screen tearing. I've never had it and apparently LightRey hasn't either. Maybe our TVs just rock :P

From what I hear most of the screen tearing issues are apparently on the PS3 versions of the games, so I guess it's a PS3 related issue.

I never noticed the screen tearing (or really knew what it was), but after seeing so many people mention it over the last year, I started noticing it pretty frequently while I played. It doesn't bother me that much, but it would be nice if they could get around to fixing that. I guess the power of suggestion finally made me see it. Turns out ignorance is bliss...

EDIT: I've only ever played the games on Xbox 360, so it's not a PS3 issue.

You kidding right? :|

The PS3 versions of AC are probably the worst but even the 360 versions tear as hell as well.

I don't even know what the heck screen tearing is, so if if my game has it, it doesn't bother me.

It's when part of the picture freezes.

I have used all AC games on the Xbox and I can say that I have never had any screen tearing in any of them, never knew AC had this problem.

The Wikipedia page on the subject has a good explanation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screen_tearing. The article says it often occurs with horizontally moving visuals, which fits with my experience. I usually see it when I pan the camera around Ezio to get a good look at the city. It also has a good sample image that resembles what is often seen in Assassin's Creed games:
