I tried to post some screenshots today, but found out I can't because I lack the administrative permissions. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Same thing for posting an avatar...

Possibly the same for posting an image in the signature?

How do I gain the "street cred" to post screenies? Avatars? Sigs? Movies?

Phanks.

I had the same thing happen when I tried to upload my mechanics hands avatar. Its a pair of cupped hands holding an aircraft. Its based on a story I wrote that got published in an aircraft maintenance magazine.

I would really like to be able to upload it and its very clean compared to some of the others I've seen here LOL.

You have to post screenshots by typing the URL in the box that comes up when you press the button that looks like a photo when you are making a post. I recall that you essentially have to do the same thing with your avatar. It's tricky to find. Something like My Space-Profile-Edit Profile.

As stated, loading the avatar is tricky. If you wish, I can do it for you if you leave a link/url in this thread.

Does that mean that I have to post the pictures/avatar on a website, then type in that website's URL to post them here? Am I getting that right? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Is there a way I can just browse from my own system and post them that way?

Do I actually have my own URL and don't even know it? I thought URLs were locators for websites only.

I feel like I'm missing something here... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Thanks again for any help. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

good afternoon my fellow citizens

let me intorduce you to photobucket. http://photobucket.com/

Its where your Presz has his pics stored for linking, and its free. Open an account there and upload your items from your computer to their servers. To post them here, use the following script.

<pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">http://www.yourURL.com</pre>

Its simple and easy. Use the tools button on the forum taskbar to get a further explanation of the UBBCodeâ"ž¢ Quick Reference. Hope that helps and thank you once again for your vote.

Yes, you have to upload them to a webserver where you can store them. I don't know about the rest of your questions but ex-prez Bill has a good suggestion for the storage part.

Okay, continuing to beat this dying horse...

Found a website to store images (thanks to the prez for the info!). However, they only allow you to store images up to 250K if you're a non-paying member. Now, call me cheap or whatever, but I don't want to pay just to keep a handful of pictures stored.

Small pictures are fine for avatars, but to post signatures and screenshots, I need something that allows for more than 250K. Any suggestions, anyone?

Once again, thanks!

Any suggestions, anyone? <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>I suggest you reread the FAQ at photobucket. link and excerpts:

http://photobucket.com/faq.php

Q: How much space and bandwidth do I get?
A: Currently free accounts get 25 megs of space and 1,500 megs of bandwidth per month. Premium accounts have these restrictions lifted.

Q: What is the maximum image size that I can upload?
A: Images larger than 250K will be automatically resized to 250K or smaller. If you are a photobucket premium account subscriber, this limit is now 1000K (1Meg).

I haven't seen many screenshots exceed 250kb in the jpg format. Heres one from the High Resolution Screens in General Discussion weighing in at 235kb. At 250kb, your limit will be around 100 images. Thats pretty good for free.

Signatures are limited to 40 kb anyway. See this thread (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?q=Y&a=tpc&s=400102&f=23110283&m=373100884&p=1).
