Damnit! I admit i was neglecting il-2 for the last month, but still! I was just flying on SOF server, and while i am not a good pilot, i was usualy able to muster up 2-3 kills in a 15-30 minute session. But now, i was beeing consantly owned by noobs in p-51s! I even got out-turned by a 51 while i was in a spit! I couldnt even score one kill despite flying for an hour and a half. I kept stalling all over the place and blacking out. And you could just as easily taken off my croshair, i was aiming like a granny without glasses. What gives?

I had a similar experience yesterday on UKDed2, first time I had been online in a month or two. For just about every kill I either got shot down or I stalled and crashed, not to mention a bogus landing and two bogus take offs. I recall a particularly dumb move where I dove down on a Betty (Me in Spit Vc 4 cannon) got a great hit to his cockpit, then instead of using my speed to get off of there (right over the enemy base!) I took on his escort, a lone Oscar who was a much better pilot then I. D'oh!

I know what you mean. I started flying again after 2 years. I was good pilot 5 years ago, but now. OMG.

Started like this: take off - no problem, flying no problem. But when i got in to fighting: OMG. I totaly lost it. Stupid flying, a lot of stall, bad filling about E-state (my and that of the enemy). Shooting is patetic. Forgot about triming, constantly overheated engine, B&Z patetic (lost my E in two passes....).

But after two months it is slowly starting to come together. Not there yet, but a lot better then few months back.

Be persistant.

You really loose the "feel" just after a few week's absence.

I feel your pain. Having come back to this from around 3 years ago, in 3 months I hadn't shot down a single aircraft but my luck changed the other day, well kind of.

I fly, come back here and read, i fly go elsewhere and read. Apply what I've read and so far I am managing to live longer but I can't shoot a damn thing.

Then the other day I slot in right behind a 109 or something. I take my time, get in close and make sure my aim is good and... nothing. I had set my plane empty, not default http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

So my next flight out I actually got my first online kill - all mine even if it was a bomber. I lined up on it, squeezed the trigger and hit the left engine. I then used the rudder and walked my shots acorss to the other engine - more fluke than skill though. The plane didn't look that damaged so I guess I killed the pilot.

What changed was setting my joystick up which made a big difference.

All the same I'd look at the game settings. It's possible they might have gotten changed somehow.

Totally opposite with me, I have lower expectations when I miss 1-2 weeks, therefore I am more careful in my first engagements, and get reasonably good results, which often surprises me.

When I play continously, it just gets worse. One smart kill raises my expectations, and I start to take bigger risks, resulting in problems. Frustration then makes me desperate taking even bigger risks, and it's a vicious spiral every time. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'm saying it's a great, relaxed feeling for me to play as a noob, and score as a veteran, rather than the opposite! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
