I just noticed that updated software for TrackIR was released on Jan 22. Has anyone installed it? Any problems?

http://naturalpoint.com/trackir/06-support/support-down...are-and-manuals.html (http://naturalpoint.com/trackir/06-support/support-download-software-and-manuals.html)

Here's what's changed from 4.1.029:

# Added Japanese language support
# Improved tracking accuracy
# Reduced memory usage

That'd be a plus, trackir.exe is the 3rd biggest memory user in games after svhost and the game exe that I'm using...

So far, so good here.

Looking good here, seems to be a reduction of ~6MB of utilised memory for the exe now. Down to 10MB or so.

I've been running it just fine for 2 days and several hours of flying.

okay so this will be my first time updating my TrackIR software... how do I actually do it? Do I need to uninstall my current one which is .028 or do I just install on top of it?

Bump mrsiCkstar's question

Just run the new installer. It will detect the old version and ask if you want to uninstall it. Tell it to uninstall, and when it's done it will tell you to run the installer again.

Ah, but would this work for TIR1... don`t think so. 2.12 is still best for TIR1.

thanks juryman! will my profiles stay untouched or do I need to back them up?

Profiles remain, and I've found performance to be significantly smoother. Nice work by NaturalPoint! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

For Software Version 4.0++ ::
Requires TrackIR 3 Series hardware or later
Windows XP / 2000
Requires DirectX 8 or later
Pentium II 500
5 megabytes of free hard disk space
16 megabytes of RAM
USB 1.1 or 2.0 port

I'll have to give it a try tonight, My TIR3Pro gets jitterey somtimes in the center. I also get a broken neck when looking down and have to recenter it, using Vector. Without vector activated it works flawlessly.

I have Track Clip Pro with the latest update and find it more sensitive to ambient light than IR2. I found this rather surprising as it's touted as being better in light.

It is when you turn it down. There's a setting that will get rid of background light issues.

Hi Woof603,I think we have the same problem,I came up with an idea that is working for me so far[I only tried it today]....it sounds a bit nuts but it works!
I took a old pair of sunglasses that didn't fit anymore and popped out both lenses,I then doubled them up and tapped them together on the edges,I then clipped the lenses to the front of my TRK IR4 camera and....WHAAALAAAA!!!! it filtered out most of the natural sunlight that was causing the problems.I also changed my profile from IL2 to BoB WoV,which for some reason seems to run alot smoother.

That's a great idea, Badaboom. Thanks. I'll get right on it. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Running the new software... Seems better. Have noticed less "chuggin" but that could be resultant of some other things I've done as well. So far, so good.

Hello Vincent,Yes I tried with the light filtering jacked up to max[253?]with no luck,I also tried to increase the object size ,It's not the fault of TRK IR,which I love by the way http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif...but I basicly live in a fish bowl! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif I'm surrounded by windows!

I would not advise this as it could really corrupt your driver install.
From the Help File:

To download and install new software, please follow these steps
Go to www.trackir.com (http://www.trackir.com) and click on the Support link at the top of the page, then go down to the download section.

If the version of software listed for your product is more recent than the version of the software installed on your computer (use the Help Menu : About menu item to check your version), then download and save the updated installer file to your desktop or temp folder. If a newer version is not available, then there is no need to update your software.

Disconnect your TrackIR unit from your computer.

Use the "Add and Remove Programs" feature of the Windows Control Panel to un-install your existing TrackIR software.

Double click on the downloaded installer .exe file to install the new software. After the program icon reappears on your desktop, you may reconnect the TrackIR to your computer and run the updated software.

I think he needs to uninstall via add/remove programs, delete the folder left behind, and maybe get the stuff out of the registry too.

Who has TrackIr, and can find the cab files? Does it make a folder like c:\program files\naturalpoint\trackIr or something like that? If so, i bet it is still there after removing via add/remove.

Also where is the TrackIr stuff in the registry? I bet it also is left behind after add/remove.

If someone will tell you where that stuff is and you remove it all, I bet you can reinstall, Ken.

Badaboom, I fixed my light problems in the simplest manner. My Track Clip Pro was too high on the head band of my earphones. I slid it down to just above the left ear piece and now the unit works beautifully, even with every light on in the room.

Well all is back to the norm now http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif
Did a sysetm restore/got every thing up to date/re installed video drivers,MSN Premium,DSL high speed,Linksys hub,TrackIR 4 pro, IL2 1946 + update, not to mention cleaned out the reg.
And after all that my sound in game is back to normal http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
The only + about it.
Before all this when I turned my head in game the engine sound would fade away.

If you people plan to update your TrackIR I suggest you fallow the direction on how to do it or this could happen to you.
What a weekend http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif
