Engine selection is really screwed, select left, right starts, select right it doesnt start, reselect left and left starts ?????
Sound ... Plane sounds (engines and hydraulics) exceptionally quiet in relation to flak and gunfire http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
At least when the I16 engine cuts out we can restart it now, and the kittyhawk doesn't explode like it did, and seems to recover spins easier.
D3D video performance on Radeons (at least 9700/9800 with P4's) is still way under par compared to OGL too.

So I guess what I am asking is, are the engine selection and sound issues going to be fixed in the final patch, as I had heard test 8 was the final submitted to ubi ??
I don't rate ubi as good catchers of bugs tbh, so i doubt they will pick up on these unless they are informed of it.

Sound in 05 was perfect, no stutters at all, very smooth!

This is why the beta 8 patch wasnt made public, all this whining because of a patch that you officially shouldnt even have.

Not sure it's whining per se and I'm sure SOMETHING someone's said on a public forum has been of SOME use to SOMEONE.

My odd "feature" is flaps, which now seem to do the opposite to pitch angle than they should (testing a P39). Although their lift/drag profile is now excellent, and I may be wrong but there now seems to be noticeable propwash and ground effect in the game, which is fantastic.

Big thumbs up from me, it's a joy to fly now.

The fact that everyone is refering to this as Beta 08 should be an indication that its a testing version only...reporting bugs is one thing if you've been asked to do it...complaining that not everything works 100% right now when you are using a leaked product that is not supported in any way is another.

Typically in software when you fix one thing seven other things get broken. They will iron out the bugs...I have faith.

Not whining, I want to make this known so it can be fixed before the patch goes public.

Bart,

Make sure all other engines are de-selected. Go through each engine and check that they are off before selecting the first engine.

Just a thought.

Yes Falcon did that, theres deffo a prob with it, and the engine/plane sounds,at least on my audigy.
Engine, flaps, gear etc seems really quiet in relation to guns and flak, dunno if its just on audigy or not, but the point of my post was to make someone who fixes these things aware of it, so hopefully it will be sorted in the actual patch, I agree about not whining about betas, I just wanna give some feedback so they can fix it, because if it made it in to the official patch, you can be sure there will be a lot of whining http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

It appears on my machine that engine selection works normally (as it did in FB1.0) for TB3 and HE-111, including select/deselect all, select/deselect 1-4, select/deselect left-right. If you have 'seperate engine start' selected in realism settings, that may be what is causeing your trouble. It works good for me, just as it alwayse before.

They're very much aware of these problems, and others. For one thing, after it became clear that Beta 8 had been widely downloaded, Ian Boys set up a string at SimHQ for the specific purpose of reporting bugs, which he then forwarded to Oleg Maddox - who, he says, thanked him for the information.

It's pretty well established that they know about the sound problems and are working hard at fixing them. (If they haven't got them fixed already.) Agreed that this is a very serious problem, but if I'm right about the reason (compression overload) there's no reason it should be hard to fix.

They're also going to fix the dust clouds coming up off the runway in the rain. Or so I'm told.

I don't know about Radeons, but one thing for sure, everybody's going to need to make sure they've got updated drivers, because the old ones aren't going to cut it.
