Åke Lindman's new movie "Tali-Ihantala 1944" is going to premiere in Finland on 7th December 2007, a day after the Finnish Independence day.

All of the equipments used on filming were real deal, Sturmgeschütz 40 Gs, T-34s, except the KV-1s which were build over T-55s. Many of the movie Sturmgeschütz' had tank victories from the war, for example Ps. 531-14 "Vappu" destroyed five tanks on 25th and 29th June 1944.

The Finnish film production crew used Flug Werk GmbH's replica of a Fw 190
A8/N, repainted and in the colours and markings that Oberst Erich Rudorffer
of JG 54 used, when stationed at Immola/Finland.

The B&W scenes showing a Bristol Blenheim and Dornier Do-17s are from real wartime clips which were shown to the audience at movie theaters during 1941-1942.

Awesome! I was actually thinking about getting the older movie "The Winter War (Talvisota) (http://www.amazon.com/WINTER-WAR-Talvisota-Taneli-M%C3%A4kel%C3%A4/dp/B0000646UN/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1196198826&sr=8-1)."

Any hope of this ever being released with English subtitles?

I find the Finnish front to be the most interesting of WW2. Finnish war movies aren't exactly easy to come by in the US, though.

I really liked Talvisota. I'd definitely buy this one on DVD if it were released here.

the old topic (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/5701091465?r=1091061206#1091061206)

I am hoping this movie won't be a disappointment, I have my certain doubts to Mr Lindman.

This film is a dissappointment. Technically good with few real tanks (StuG III, T-34, T-26)
but there is no story in this film, its not a Movie.

Damn http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif, although it was marketed as a war film, devoid of any lame romances etc.

Personally I rather watch 90 minutes of steel inferno without any sophsiticated storyline, than the usual good vs bad/hero and his love/black or ethnic guy who always dies tragically/ and the Earth is saved at the end war movies.

Indeed. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/351.gif IMO the only real storyline a war movie about a particular battle should have is the battle itself.
