ok as some of you know i have made a few post about not being able to get the sair and hellcat as well as a few other planes up to there rated speed. with the sair its rated i think 670km/h at 6000m alt. fastest i have been able to get it was about 550 km/h or so. well i think i figured out my problem. i play with complexe engien mangment/off. i just play this game for fun and just never wanted to be botherd with haveing ajust things like that. well just for sh!ts and giggles i turned it on set my mixture at 100% "120% made the plane smoke like a chevy" and set the charger to 3. trimed out just a bit and BANG im hiting 680 km/h in Lv flight. so im happy i figured that out but now im a bit peeved as to why when a player chosses to cut off that option his plane is robbed of so much power. is there something else im doing wrong when i play with Complex engine mng set to off that is causeing me to lose so much power. like i said i have no asparations of actully flying a plane of any kind"lol can you beleave im scared of hights" so i just play for the fun of it. if its some kinda bug or some crazy thing like that do you guys think if i wrote to Oleg and reported it he might fix it?

And don't forget: U.S. Military performance numbers are based on normal gross weight (no externals) and military power, not WEP.

It's not a 'Sair, it's a HAWG!

Seems to me not using CEM is the root of most complaints regarding performance.

Atleast Smitty will get awsome fuel economy. You'r back may become sore after long periods of sitting though.

<S!>

I certainly don't mind if the correct nicknames for the World war Two aircraft we fly are used. They are both historical and a part of the color and glamor of these birds.

People who insist on using 'sair and "hawg" and the like are welcome to do so. Sounds rather dorky to me.

For accurate historical names for aircraft of the period see the link provided. You will notice that birds like the F4U had more then one, for example: Bent-Wing Bird, Whispering Death

yea well im a trend starter i dont feel the need to conform to your opinions of what something should be called. so keep keep eating your grass sheep. ill keep flying my SAIR. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

yes i am useing the out of cockpit gauge. when in the diffuculty option menu i cut complex engien mangment off i can get the .....f4u up to about 680 km/h at about 6000 to 7000m alt. how ever when i cut that opyion on so the game sets the supercharger ect it will only get to about 550 kmh. same with the hellcat.

Planes are using two way to reccord speed: One is for pilots (cockpit gauge) and it's called Indicated Air Speed (IAS) and show plane speed vs air (recorded with plane's speedometer). The other one is for the rest of the world (enginers) and it's called True Air Speed (TAS) -> the one show in no-cockpit gauge. The last one is the speed of the plane relative to the ground.

Planes performances are given with TAS, but your plane is flying vs air (IAS), and air density change with temperature and altitude. TAS is equal IAS at see level with perfect temperature, then, IAS decrease with altitude, bla bla bla.

Open a book or use google.

hmm, sorry, didn't read your last post
did you use second stage or third stage supercharger ?
u need to set to second stage at around 2500 m and third stage at around 8000 m for both plane.
You will have more power.

You will find more informations about that in readme files. It's different for each plane.

ok... lol
Forgot everything I said. It seems you do it right and both speed are not the same with or without CEM option. You are faster with CEM, I just tried it. Looks like a bug, you are right here.

I think the non-CEM setting uses quite conservative mix and charger settings [quite possibly - wrong ones entirely], and it also switches the radiator into a kind of forced-auto mode if I remember correctly. It will be very hard to hit the absolute top speed for the plane you're testing if the radiator is fully opened up.
