AFAIK vanilla installation of IL2 denies making maps. Therefore this is a mod. Promotion of mods is not allowed. Thread deletion and a ban.

When I first started flying IL-2, I was pretty bad at it lol. Get me up in altitude and I'd be flamed pretty quick, plus all the people already b&zing me....

I was on the Viazma map and decided to fly like that and was very successful. I can't tell you how many aces I flew into bridges and smoke stacks lol.

The smokestack (chimney) is an object in the FMB.

You can put them anywhere on any map. Not a mod map Carguy, calm down a bit!!!

hehe...that's a whole bunch of chimney objects (which could be added to any map)....hows the FPS?.....Ought to try doing it on the mountains map, that would make it much harder having to consider the vertical as well. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Looks like alot of fun, short tha actual placing of object in FMB that was a chore I'm sure.

Reminds me of an IL2 movie released years ago with P 40s and Me 109s tusseling amongst chimmneys in an indutrial zone.

Can't remember the name but it was fun.

This ones cool to watch. How many chimneys were placed in this video. I know the [insert] button got used alot. LOL

Not necessarily. You can make a map like this in the FMB, with the chimney stack being one of the objects. It would take a GREAT amount of time placing all of those objects though.

Sigh...hysteria. I've seen a lot of map templates for download...actually this would better be a mission template using a particular arrangement of ground objects on a specific map. It's like making masp to reflect different points of the war...like for example I "tried" setting up some of the ships of the Red Banner Baltic fleet in correct locations for the time...but couldn't find the info so settleed with putting the "Aurora" at it's current location as a museum in Leningrad/St. Petersburg on the Gulf map for scenic flyovers.

Try the campaign "for good pilots" on mission4today. One mission is flying against literally 100 Biplanes in a Gladiator on such a chimney map, tremendous fun!

Lots of fun indeed, but eventually I had to edit the mission, couldn't pass it the standard way. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blush.gif

Now if one could put a ceiling on the stacks so that no "escape" is possible in the vertical.....

Don't dimiss CGs comment yet.
Look at the colour of the wingtip smoke.
It should be light green and red.
The colour is more like cyan?!

Very cool !!
I Have a couple of "Mission Maps" that I have set up in a very similar manner, with the chimmneys set up in more orderly geometric pattern.
And Lurch, I tried to think of a way to put a cap on it too, but ended up using the highest barrrage balloons in a tight (very close together) circle. Once I draw an enemy into the circle via a row of chimmneys going in. Once in though it is almost impossible to get out, because there is no room to get enough speed to go over the top. I set a couple of chimneys at an angle just as you go into the circle that forces a left turn and ya just have to keep circling. I did of course leave a tiny hole to escape it but very hard to hit it just right. Im thinking probably only a Lerch could climb out but havent tried it.
I also made a race course with guns hot, and you not only race the clock but there are plenty of targets to run up a score with too. Its sort of an obstacle race course where you can fly through hangars, under bridges, and one section the course widens out at an airport where you quickly have to select from a bunch of targets, planes, tanks, vehicles, etc. But there is also a mistal sitting there somewhere and If ya hit that one, it kills ya. The route is well marked out with the regular race markers. and with chimneys, and observation balloons, marking out different sections of the course, so that it dosent all look the same.
These kinds of maps are great practice for flying, and shooting, ground pounding or dogfighting, is big fun. One must use unlimited weapons for the race course though if you want to shoot all the way through the race. It has so many targets and its a long course.
Yep LEBillfish, I have considered making something like this that goes through the mountains, for the reason you mentioned.
Also the FPS rate isnt too bad as I use alot of stationary objects, and spread them out a bit when I can.
I am not a wizard with the FMB like some of the folks here, but Im learning. I had thought of trying my hand at posting some stuff like this for the community to download. But wasent sure if anyone would be interested. Im kind of assuming that a coop would be best for the race, but some input from anyone is welcome.
I have only made "missions" so far, and I am not sure what would be the best type to do, so that people can get the most out of them.

Color looks green enough to me, especially with the way YouTube loses resolution and color.

Air Race Maps work best as Dogfight maps. That way you can have a variety of planes to choose from and you don't have to reload the map for each race.
