In the QMB, when I choose an allied plane, I get a joyful marching song that brings visions of a patriotic parade or something.
When I choose an axis plane, I get this foreboding, stereotypeing, and dark score that makes you feel like you are up to no good no matter what.

It is kind of an injustice and insult to the thousands of airmen from axis countries that were fighting just because they happened to be born and raised in a country with crazy leaders.

Lots of german pilots wanted nothing to do with the Nazi party, and lots of Japanese pilots were just soldiers following orders. And the same goes for poeple that fought on the axis side from any country.

I just don't like this blanket, evil sounding music to be blanketed over every axis pilot. The music only plays to those who choose to fly axis anyway, so how about some music for these pilots that is a bit kinder?

The music is what it is. German music of the era was much like that at times. In the end, though, it's just music.

As to the feeling that you are up to no good...ummm, how about just don't feel that way? You are in control of your emotions not the music...

Me too.

I didn't even know that there are some sounds in campaign mode of game, especially interesting in scramble missions you hear siren. It even scared me first time I heard it in IJA career mission http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.

This must refer to the Japanese music, since the German tune sounds like something people would play at an Oktoberfest.

Even so, the Japanese tune may be unconventional to Westerners, but not evil. Watch the opening credits of enough Akira Kurosawa movies and it won't sound sinister at all.

I love the Japanese Theme. When I hear it.. I imagine myself below decks in the Carrier praying before a shinto shrine. I grasp my cup of Sake, tie my ceremonial scarfe around my brow and head to my plane.

Before mounting I bow to my crew chief who bows in return and hands me my Katana sword. I hear the groans of the ship as she picks up speed to turn into the wind. I blink to adjust my eyes as the flight elevator takes me in the world above. In my ears the dark bleat of the music reminds me that we are mighty, we are the sword of the Emporer, we are fight and die gladly in his service... for the glory of the Empire.

I am happy for I know I will soon be flying far above this world of woe...

Music is what you make it.

Put your own music in there.... This (http://www.airwarfare.com/Sims/FB/fb_music.htm) tells you how.

Well that is okay. To this westerner, the music sounds like it is making the axis out to be the bad guys to me. But it could be just my western ear, maybe in Japan it is a cheery, catchy show-tune or something.......

I like the original russian 'oompah' music, sounds very patriotic and goes well with the game, as does the original axis music, it's the allied music in PF i dislike, reminds me of an Indiana Jones movie sort of thing.

I love the japanese theme too, I'd leave it on all the time if it was long enough not to get repitive. If anyone could point me out something similar to dload, I'd go ahead.

I turned it off first thing after install.

Hmmm, how's the intro movie? Don't think I've seen that either. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

HELLO!!!!

Newsflash... axis WERE the bad guys (sheesh).

And where does this crazy idea come from that "they wanted nothing to do with the Nazis". Is there any doubt in your mind that they took a personal oath of loyalty to Hitler?

And it's a bit rich to claim "they were only defending their homeland"; unless you really do believe in "Lebensraum" and the idea that the steppes of Russia should some how be seen as Germanic home turf...

Maybe "White cliffs of dover", "pomp and circumstance", for the Brits

For the Americans Dvorak's 9th, or radio programmes from the 40s that you can download from the internet ...

For the Soviets you have plenty to choose from.

Jurmo, try the minimalist method. I JAM stereo when I play the FB, it helps me relax during the dogfight. I never tried FB music, and to save disk space, Deleted all FB/PF music files -- No Thanks. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif I already have a stereo.

Or if you play late at night, tune into Coast to Coast AM (a fun talkshow) http://www.coasttocoastam.com/

As far as "mood" music and imagery, one that stuck in my mind was USA FOX NEWS showing Serbian TV ad showing the NATO symbol with dark smoke and flames while playing the Imperial March music from Empire Strikes Back. NATO bombed the Serbian TV stations.

Heh, change it to Wagner then....

I would put in something else myself(Metallica, Megadeth, ya get the point), but it changes the atmosphere more than I care for in this sim.

I personally don't want to mess anything up for fear of having to reinstall everything.

I think the American music is too light hearted. Almost, dare I say, ghey. I know it's the real deal from back in the day, but dang it's lightweight.

Maybe it's from my dad playin' LPs of military marches when I was a kid. He wore it out, man!

Or, maybe because I grew to hate "upbeats" in marches years ago. Playing a french horn in marching band will do that to just about anybody!

Maybe, I'm ghey. Oh, that's right, I am ghey. I'm a lesbian trapped in a male body. How could I forget? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Here, here! me too, I find it very enjoyable to listen to Aces High march as the Germans! Theres lots of other classics I have substituted as well:

Thunderbirds Theme (the classic series that is)
Battle of Britain Theme
633 Squadron Theme

Oh, I'm always on the look out for more...

yes! yes! And the opening screen of PF too! It has a p-51 looking manly and a whimpy Zero going down in flames, clear Alies bias!
Ts, ts, <shakes head slowly>, they should change it to a picture of a naked buxom babe. Thats what I call fair and unbiased.

Well, the Axis were the bad guys. The whole killing millions of Chinese/Philipinos/Slavs/Jews in a wars of territorial aggression sort of speaks for itself . . .

The music in the game is merely marginally representive of the its assigned cultures. Personally, I found it all annoying and instead replaced it with 1940s era National Anthems and martial/service marches and hymns (okay, the Luftwaffe March was actually writtne for a 1960s movie, but what the hey . . .). It sounds much better now.

Dude, is Art Bell still doing that show...
I used to listen to that years ago...UFO's, zombies, mind control, telepathy, parallel universes, yetti's, black holes...sometimes i'd laugh my @$$ off; other times it would just give me those 3 AM creepies
