View Full Version : A question about Track IR

Once you have this set up, how much do you turn your head from side to side to go from the 7oclock view to the 5oclock view? In real life you would turn about 200 degrees or so, what is it with TRack IR? 5 degrees either side? 10?

Depends on setup and physical postioning of you / TrackIR, but a bit more than 5 or 10 degrees, maybe 25 or 30 either side of straight ahead? Bearing in mind that you're keeping your eyes looking at the screen (not much point otherwise http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif) it can't really work any other way.

Why do you ask?

keep in mind that you can also lean from left to right with this and achieve the same result as turning your head while keeping your face to the screen.

Quite right, as long as it can track your reflector it makes no difference whether your head twists or moves sideways. Mine is a small plastic ball covered in tacho tape so what the sensor 'sees' will be the same from all angles (as long as I stay in its field of vision).
This applies to TIR2, the newer 6DOF version may be different?

Also, if you have the "Vector Expansion" and the latest software, you can see the virtual heads relative to your actual head movement. That should answer your question.
