View Full Version : 282 victories without death... 283? No. Yes, death never looses...

Yes, I died and am typing this message from the beyond in hell my soul will rest forever. Satan even gave me a private villa for all my 'good deeds' (with *****es). 282 is the final number, who had guessed I would make it this far? Not me. Although I was really hoping to break the 300 mark I guess 282 is a good run too.

This has been a great deal of fun and I've gained a lot of skill from flying with such discipline. But now I am becoming rather bored from this, public servers in general is not good for much other than blowing up helpless bastards and the Squad scene does not seem very attractive to me at the moment.

Not sure what I'll be doing next. Hope you've all enjoyed my tracks, dreyer out.

Zooly235: It's already as big as it gets... errr. wait... what head?

I was flying on the Small Finland map, 64 players under the nickname "fiveseventwo". Basically after chasing away a LA-5F from 5000 or so meters I spotted a P-39 about 2000 meters below me. He was trying to climb up towards me the silly, silly person. I zoomed down for my attack, but missed by a small margin then zoomed back up and kept my energy advantage. Then I made a stupid mistake, I saw him climbing up towards me in a shallow climb, however I was so much higher than him so I assumed he would not be able to keep his nose in my flight path for very long. By the time I realized I was wrong it was too late. I could have so easily avoided this incident also, but oh well http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif Pilot who killed me was named FPS=ANDYBOLT I think.

Hi mate, I enjoyed watching your tracks aswell.
I'm always interested in looking at my flyingmates styles in detail....got some pretty good ideas that way.

U most probably need a new and different challange now.......
I flew the 109 until I choked....I still get a slight pukative feeling whenever glancing on it.
I also felt I needed some totally different challange so I started to go through all the planes and found interest in the Cr@pier crates.
I have many favorites now but I took a particular liking to the il-2 doubleseater. During my axis time I witnessed the constant slaughtering of groundpounders and often wondered about better tactics for them.

I was very impressed by a guy that looped and dogfighted in a He111 after dropping his bombs.
He was shot down by 3 fighters but I much admired the "not giving up" mentality. I have that too.
I mostly fly on DF servers and I have followed the groundpounder activity closely since AEP.
What strikes me is the obvious lack of teameffort amongst the bomberguys and the strange affection for hugging the ground.
The most important lesson I learned from the 109 flying was the "altitude is energy" thing.
I decided to give the il-2 a go and soon saw its potential as a fighter. Not to search for the enemy and destroy, but to protect itself and mates closeby. I also noticed that a group of il-2's generally do a better job in escorting and protecting eachother than fighters do.

Anyway.....I now undertand how easy fighters are to survive in (compared) and this new challange actually suits me better.
Although one gets shot down often I really enjoy the possibility to pop a confident axis fighterjock from the sky in his safest moment. ( the cannons are effective beyond 1000m ) http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

-------------------------------------

I suspect U would become good in the Cr@pier crates and I merrily recommend to try them.
DF servers need more groundpounderguys with fightermentality and more fighterjocks with groundpounder experience....

Greetings from an ex axis mate... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Yes, I will definitely leave the site up and probably post some new tracks every once in a while.

lil_labbit: http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Maybe, but I'm honestly not that interested in the Pacific Theme. I prefer the Eastern front in Europe, although the western is nice too.

What's a rowntree's fruit?

F19_Ob: Perhaps, I might be looking into doing some formation flying, I love that stuff. Or just flying escort missions online.

It would probably be a lot more fun to fly as a ground pounder if everyone else wasn€t totally suicidal and greedy for a kill. I would just get frustrated with people using stupid *** tactics and ramming. I always have a large amount of respect for bombers online and I never use suicidal tactics. I mean how do you think a guy feels after flying for 10 minutes to reach his target only to get rammed? I use proper tactics against bombers and stay out of their defensive gunners, never ever attack from a dead 6 position.

TgD=Thunderbolt56: Lots of reasons, but mainly because online "arcaders" (yeah, can't really classify public flying as "simming") are already suicidal enough without knowing that they can ruin my record if they get me.

Overall you must be a lot better than me in most every way. I'm an offline player personally. But I must be better than you in one way!! You made a few tracks showing landing with no ailerons but to me that is no big deal. I have landed no aileron many times and it's very easy. Landing with no rudder of course is extremely easy except after you get on the ground!! How many times have I hit the control tower because of no rudder?? Probably about three times...lol!! I also have landed about 10 times with no elevator but this is hard and I usually nose over after running out of runway, but I only damage the plane and can walk away. But one time I landed a Me-110 perfectly with no elevator. As a matter of fact it was better than most of my 110 landings with an elevator!?!? One time I was flying a 109-G6 and got hit by a Mk.II Hurricane and lost all three axes!! Of course I did not attempt to land but I managed to control it well enough by varying the throttle that I was able to get it over friendly lines and bail. I wrote about that in these forums and one guy accused me of lying!!

Hart here is how we play 1x1 or 2v2 or what ever I copied the brieifng to here. I used to host the teamspeak but now that Gozr has the missions I let him host it all he has much better resourses. The mission briefing ingame still reflects my TS you can still use it, but I editd brief here for his here as well.
Also one of us has to be there to rotate map to the mission.

Running late off to work http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Name 1v1,2v2 whatever with Spectators
Short Head to Head Winner stays on 131st_BaLrOg,131st_Toad
Description King of the Hill (beta test)
1vs1, 2vs2 whatever Host desides Mission Blue vs Red
With Spectators on the Green Base Externals are on for the spectators. Pilots fly with Honor and stay in the Pit! Please.
With Spectators on the Green Base
Each Team Has 6 pilots and aircraft
Default weapons loadout only please !!!Teamspeak Is hosted aswell, and spectators stay grounded, do not fly use external Cameras to watch.
Teamspeak channel is 69.50.182.99:6768
PW is prowarfb
Team Has 6 pilots and aircraft. If game is being hosted as a scripted server.
Default weapons loadout only please !!!
Note this only works if you read the briefing and abide by the rules.
Admin will log in to umpire on occasion any rule breakers will be band!!
Green Base is for spectators and Admin only. Don't fly from there. If you do stay away from the fight. Your in a Gladiator and there is no telling what the combatants are flying. If you get in the way they are free to destroy you. And kick you from the server.
Briefing (IMPORTANT READ THIS)
S! All
And Welcome!
Consider this mission as being a group of pilots that's had too much to drink and are half pissed, at each other, And can't agree on who is the best pilot.
So they get a bit carried away and arrange this little meeting without authorization. Lots of testosterone in this mix.
There are Three airfields
Green = Umpire / Non combatants
Red / Blue = Combatants
The Host (or yourselves if Host not present)will choose the first four pilots in the room, to go 2v2.
If not enough pilots we will run it 1v1.
Other contenders will remain parked on the Tarmac the GREEN airfield as spectators.
The combatants will then taxi to the pylons marked Start (located in center of airstrip) and park back to back !
blue will face heading 180
red will face heading 0
This should mean you take of in opposite directions to each other!
Once both players are in position they will indicate this by signaling 'READY' using chat ALL
When both combatants are ready either the umpire or yourselves will signal 'GO' go for take off.
Once airbourne the combatants will head straight
away from each other climbing to 1000 to 2000
(or a previously agreed altitude).
Once both have achieved the designated altitued the combatants will turn about
(Blue HDG=180 and Red=0)
This means you should meet each other head-on over the base from which you took off from. Head on mean s look for each others face!! Thats close with out colliding.
Guns are cold on the first pass! (This means you do not fire)
The instant you pass Weapons are Hot and The fight begins.
Any Player Killed will (if the script works) be booted you must land successfully in order to refresh your aircraft so pay attention on Landing.
NOTE: you must land and park on your side of the line or this two will count as a fail!!)
Once the victor has landed safely and is ready (having re-spawned a new aircraft) a second challenger may step forward. The challenger gets to choose the aircraft type for both combatants. This ensures some Uber pilot can't hold onto the Map forever. Ther has to be some plane he can't fly LOL
If the survivor fails to make a successful landing or ditch two different pilots may step up to go through this same scenario.
If both players run out of ammo or fuel then they must attempt to land and if both do this successfully should step aside and allow two new combatants.
Enjoy the festivities!!!!!

That one is private use for the International fights. Not sure if I have permission to post PW for that one.
The Other two prowars are public though. I beleive the maps are loaded on both. We usually use the one with externals. Strictly for the judge use and the spectators waiting their turn to go against the victor. Combatons should not use them and fly with Honor! I won't have time to get on till Tommorrow evening. GOZR is away to San Fransico for some Software show and he is in charge of displaying Pacific Fighters. So I'm not sure when he will get back.

Hey Dreyer, nice accomplishment, congrats. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

But I wonder how you handled the situation where your base is straffed and there's a few enemy fighters over base. Did you fly servers where straffing isnt allowed, or did you simply not count being killed on the ground? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Seems to me that in the time you were trying to add kills to your list straffing must have occured? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Just wondering. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I just hit refly till the enemy was dead/gone. Or if the situation allowed it I took off and shot them down. Surprisingly this rarely happened however. Vulchers get killed really fast so the chance of me spawning at the same time they are there is slim.

If I was coming home for landing with ground ponders around it was a bigger problem, however.

Awesome m8!
Remember a post of yours a while back where a few were not quite giving the respect deserved for jocks who try something like you just have. In the discusion the manner of your ultimate demise was alluded to! Anyone can shoot YOU, or me, down. To go 282, or 3 without that happening on ww public servers is imho, Outstanding! Trying to take all factors into account, I think that the probability of your death/sorties ratio is not that unrealistic against reality in that sort of endevour, :-)

My first proper job was an apprentice Toolmaker. Involved using a lot of heavy machinery, which, if not given due respect, could maim or kill in the blink of an eye. B4 being let loose we had to go to a safety exibition. One thing stuck in my mind. The guy giving the introductory chat said that "people are more likely to make mistakes when thay are either very inexperienced,, or very experienced" lol. Know that aint much solace m8, but it least it proves your not alone.

I don't care what anyone else says, you've done an amazing job and deserve the credit for it. Lucius_Esox: That's an interresting view and it's also right. Too much success breeds a nonchalant attitude, which can be very dangerous in a scene where mistakes lead to deaht.

Do you have pedals or some other extraordinary input devices?

HART_dreyer
10-12-2004, 09:29 AM
Oh I'm sorry rumsinsfeld, missed that question.

Under the Input section in IL2 I just put all my settings to 100. Roll, Yaw and Pitch have all those slider bars set to 100. I don't even know what they do, my master (WUAF_Bader) told me to do it so I did. Everything seems to work fine so I never bothered to mess with it.

Oh, and I only use the MS Sidewinder FF2, no other equipment. I don't think I would do very well with pedals.

I also want to see other pilots tracks. That's why I put mine up becasue when I first started flying NOBODY would show me theirs.

Why don't you start similar game in VWF or VEF ? Its completely different playing in an enviroment where you have coordinates teamstaking off together and operating together...

It usually even take less time to find a target...
