View Full Version : Nvidia Driver for PF?

10-14-2004, 11:45 AM
I read in one of the messages posted yesterday that the Nvidia driver which is recommended for PF is version 56.72 (for a Nvidia GeForce 4 Ti 4400 graphics card).
I have already installed the 61.77 driver which runs fine, but presumably using the 56.72 driver would be preferable.
Dare I uninstall the 61.77 (using Windows XP control panel - "remove programs") and then install the earlier driver (56.72)?
Has anyone had problems doing this?

I have done it with other Nvidia drivers before and never had any problems.

Nvidia is close to releasing a new WHQL driver that will replace the current 61.77 set. I don't know what the driver designation number is going to be, but It will supposedly be a stout set that will solve most if not all of the little quirks found in most of the ones out there now.

I'm currently using the (beta) 66.00's and have a few small issues with them but FB runs well for the most part. I've gotten used to extremely solid drivers from Nvidia and am confident this go-round won't be any different.

The 6800 series is "new" technology that certainly has had its teething problems, but a set of drivers that will offer solid performance, superior IQ and above all, rock-solid stability shouldn't be far away.

I plan on using my current driver set initially, but have DL'd the listed recommended drivers (65.73) to give them a shot just in case.

I downloaded 66.81 the other day and have had no problems with it. It is supposedly for all G Force cards. Before I had to use an earlier driver to run dgVoodoo when flying Red Baron, there was no conflict with this driver. Also it seems to have higher screen refresh rates available and works well with FB/AEP.
