Would anyone who reads these forums happen to know what ever became of the Japanese "Oscar" that was displayed outside of the Base Operations building at Clark Field in Pampanga, Philippines?

Have a hunch it went to scrap before it's real and true value was realized. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif

"Oscar"?

Yes, I've seen it. It's located in our neighborhood's playground. The kids have been pretty hard on it though, climbing up and down it, jumping out of the cockpit and yellin' "Banzai"! I live in Texas, man that's a long trip from the Phillipines.

War prizes : an illustrated survey of German, Italian and Japanese aircraft brought to Allied countries during and after the Second World War / Phil Butler.

There is another one, that I cannot recall the name of but deals with only Japanese aircraft after the war.

Both books list all the aircraft, by type, that came into allied hands. In most cases they provide a history of the aircraft and it's final destination. If I can think of the name of the book that deals just with Japanese aircraft I'll post it to you...it's very thorough.
